To answer the OP's original question: Depends on what you're looking for. Some love the Flowmaster sound, others the straight-thru muffler sound.

In one of his books, David Vizard said his dyno testing showed the Walker DynoMax Super Turbos flowed better than chambered Flowmasters. I have a pair of the large case Super Turbos on my 82 C10, and my son's 69 C10 still has a pair I installed around 15 years ago, which tells me they are well made. They have a nice little rumble, but are nowhere near as loud as even a Delta 50 Flowmasters, and drone is maybe 10 on a scale of 100.

I call ******** on the whole mess and they prove it for gain and loss it’s all about the same only real difference is sound no one method is any better then the other as far as hp and torque.

Didn't this episode prove true duals cost power without h or x

By an infinitesimal amount not worth worrying about when I rewatched it I wrote down numbers for all 3 but they are at home. I was gathering ammo Incase an argument ensued. Lol

You can do that, or a dual in dual out muffler are what I would do.

Not all manufacturers have the muffler you may want in that configurration, this would allow you to use what ever muffler you wanted.

The max up and tq wasn't much different but the low end is where the power was made from having the crossover

Was your engine dunked with exhaust or open headers? To me now worth it especially with space constraints on a 4x app was gonna do a cross over above the tail shaft but decided it’s more obnoxious the way it is lol

Wouldn't a properly sized single exhaust make as much power as the h-pipe and x-pipe? It's all about scavenging right and those three setups all scavenge, helping the engine to breathe.

I was one of them until I bought my '81 with single exhaust and it has ample power. It even sounds way cool with vortec growl coming from the single exhaust. It's 2.5 inch all the way through.

It will give you a more subtle even exhaust note with one, I like when it sounds like you can hear each cylinder fire. Lol
