I bought a transfer case from the seller of that truck, Joel, a few years ago. He's thinning his heard this year. I assume it's because prices are so crazy. He's already sold two similar trucks so far this year. All pieced together "Frankentrucks", but solid and needing paint. He told me in an email that 13 was too many, so some had to go.

Don't count on it, but maybe... The guys who loved these trucks growing up are coming into retirement age. I don't think the market for them is shrinking by any means.

I agree that 10 grand is nuts, but it's certainly worth more then 2-3 being as solid as it is. The two trucks he's sold this year have both started at 10K. I saw one dropped to $7500 before the ad disappeared. I'd bet he's selling them for 7 grand, surely no lower than 5.

I don't know the guy, I just troll MN Craigslist a lot and try to keep tabs on these things. There's another Squarebody guy with a ton of parts and trucks in Princeton, MN, but I don't even bother communicating with him based on his absurd asking prices.
So in other words he's a player?

Well that ‘77K20 is gone. It looked real clean. Must’ve fetched $10k or close to it.
I can’t believe actually the K10 shorty is still for sale. Either not as pictured or just hasn’t caught the right persons eye yet.
But the market is getting softer.
3 years ago when we bought the blue truck. Neither of them ones above would have made it 2 days before selling, at that price.
Covid purchases though. Now there’s a lot of “bought to restore, but ran out of time/money/talent/interest” adds.

I think we will see prices on your “average” squares drop ALOT.
Consider while yes they’re desirable classic vehicles, there is still a huge supply of nice straight not rusted out driver quality trucks out there.
And they’re still inexpensive “drivers” for many and that demographic doesn’t spend big bucks.
And even for resto/hotrod guys, these are blue collar guys rigs, and as such the available % of disposable income will keep going down with the economy and those paying off Covid spending and inflation hits.
As much as I want to jump on every nice one for an ok price that I see (and unfortunately for other reasons, can’t right now), I believe even lower prices are around the corner. (Also unfortunately…)

Me too.
Maybe because they were one of the first few cars with some actual power again after the travesty that was the 70s and 80s.
Now if it was black and a Syclone, I’d be n that thing like a fat kid on a candy bar!

Yup, with era correct wrecker bed too!
If your GM truck has to be towed(as they sometimes do) isn't it a little easier to stomach, if it's hauled by another GM truck? I know it is for me.

Over the years our company had many GM 3/4, 1 ton and HDs as tow trucks. Too many to count. Sadly, to my knowledge all are gone today except this one and it was really close to being scrapped.

Prices have for sure came down here in the Houston area. Even the really nice trucks are going for way cheaper.
