What Summit cam were you thinking of?

I do believe that's the very same cam I'm running in my '70 Impala. I must say I'm very impressed with it, excellent low and midrange power and fantastic throttle response. It gets that large car moving easily despite it's weight and crappy 2.56 rear axle. A set of Vortecs would be a perfect match for that cam.

And a peice of mind, dont reuse the Newer head bolts, use the old ones, the newer ones are a torque to yeild bolt, and strech out, the old ones arnt.

Gen I small blocks never came with torque to yield head bolts. Either way, at under $30 for a complete set from GM, it's cheap insurance. I normally replace then every time anyways.

THats what i was getting at, the old ones arnt, so use those instead. That info came from a GM Dealership.(one of my dads friends)

Ok, let me rephrase that FOR THE ENGINE IN QUESTION, torque to yield bolts are not an option. Therefore, the information is of no value to this thread.

I like ARP bolts and you don't have to be afraid of reusing them.

Anyone know if I need to use the pushrods from the vortec engine or the stock ones from mine? The ones from the vortec truck are shorter, but the same otherwise. One of my stock ones was bent.

the vortec had a roller cam...lifters are a little taller. Use yours.

That's what I was thinking, so I guess I need to find one single pushrod...
