Importance of charcoal (Evap) canister

VC117 Duralast.

We used it on my son's 87 350ci TBI, plug and play with no changes or modifications necessary.
Thanks, you called it a 2 line, but isn't there a third line that's plugged off making it possible to use it in a 2 or 3 line system. I'm thinking it's the same as 3 ACDelco PN#215-153 Standard Motor Products PN#CP1022 which can be a two or three port.

Thanks, you called it a 2 line, but isn't there a third line that's plugged off making it possible to use it in a 2 or 3 line system. I'm thinking it's the same as 3 ACDelco PN#215-153 Standard Motor Products PN#CP1022 which can be a two or three port.
That's not what the instructions said. It said the third port that is capped off is a vent, and it clearly said NOT to connect anything to it, and not to replace the vent cap with a sealed cap.

Ok so it's another variation then, a true two port canister. That port would be like the 6th port on 6 port canister. Thanks for that info. I appreciate it.
