I posted the Rock Auto part # in this thread.

I would replace the cable regardless unless you can 100% confirm that it was NOT stretched either the cable itself, or it's housing or both when it was hung up when pulling the motor and trans. For a 700r4 that relies heavily on proper adjustment or trash the trans, it's not a risk I'd want to take.

Though he mentioned it's kinked, so it for sure needs replaced.

IIRC, Yes. I think you'll be able to tell if the linkage is bent or not. Being the cable is the weak link there, I'd imagine the cable PROBABLY took most of the damage if any. Just give it a good visial looking over, and by hand move it, make sure it's moving freely and returns freely.

So the transmission shifts like she's supposed to and all seems fine minus some cable fine tuning

Great News. So then it was a stretched cable from the engine pull. Hopefully the permanent damage was kept to a minumum. How much sludge was in the bottom of the pan? Now much metal flake? Usually a tab bit of aluminum looking shavings, and a bit more brass colored shavings can be considered somewhat normal if had never been apart before.

Hmmm...they are usually programmed to lock at around 31 in 3rd, and 38 in 4th.
