HR,
I think he may have damaged/altered the geometry of the bellcrank that pushes the TV valve in the valve body. He said that the old TV cable got caught up when he was lifting the old body off the frame, and pulled out of the trans.
He said that when he is looking up into the VB with the pan off, the bellcrank is not touching the TV plunger. IIRC, that is supposed to be touching the crank at all times when the cable is adjusted correctly.
I am not sure how far in its supposed to go, but he says the TV plunger does not go all the way in when he had his brother floor it while he was watching.
If thats the case, I am thinking his issues stem from low LP through the ranges.

That without doubt it certainly a possibility. So what you're saying, he's not getting a full pull, equal to the pull on the cable, keeping all line pressure low all through the spectrum of light throttle to wide open throttle. You're right, and IIRC too, it should be that the TV valve will be pushed all the way in and bottom out what you're callign the bell crank. The part that cable attaches to inside the trans pan at the valve body right? Another thing to condier, if it's not that, that much weight it's even possible to have stretched the cable itself and/or the cable housing.
If this is the case, it really needs to be fixed sooner than later cuz it can cause permanent damage to the trans. In the meantime until you get this resolved if this is the issue, I wouldn't be doing any jack rabbit take offs and any full throttle downshifts. If there isn't enough pressure which is regulated by the TV valve, then the clutch packs are not being help as tight as they should be, and it will allow clutch slippage which is harmful enough in itslef, but then add the over heat factor, and that's where the permanent damage comes in. Slipping clutches and overheating.

Perfect all that information you just gave me will help me fix what I think is wrong after speaking with Jim so I'll drop the pan see where the arm is in relation to the valve pin thing and if its still not right then I'll take it apart and fix what I can also is that pin supposed to be all the way in with no throttle or out with no throttle and also are the TV cables expencuve to buy or are they fair priced?

Bellcrank...old school engineering term i guess. It was used quite a bit when I was building aircraft. Changes direction of pul or push.
Yes, thas what I was referring to. The part that the thin wire hook from the eylet on the TV cable, that pushes the TV plunger into the VB.

Very cool info... that wasn't covered in the trans class I took years ago to rebuild the th350 that was in my wagon... wished I had switched it to a 700r4 back then... I'd probably still have it if I had... lol
