having a problem need advise

I have an 1987 v10 and all of a sudden while i was driving down yhe road it started to pop,pop,pop and kind of like hesitate. If you get on it, it gets a little worse til it down shifts then runs good. If i run down the road at 65 its all good til i hit a slope or load on the engine and then it will do it again. I cannot track down the issue any advise would be great

I wonder if you're experiencing the same thing as me, only mine is carbureted. Perhaps you have crusty old rubber lines on the top of your tank (s) and the air being drawn through is causing cavetation, which causes the system to lose prime.

If that is an EFI engine, I would check for moisture in the dizzy cap.

Make sure your timing is not too far advanced. It would be bad spark plug wires as I have dad this same problem with an acura integra once with bad plug wires. I would check timing and then do a full tune up on it. Any time I have issues with a car or truck I do a full tune up so I an diagnosing a tuned up motor so I am not chasing my tail on an easy fix. I do spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, air filter and fuel filter before I trouble shoot a problem and usually change oil and filter while I am at it. Check the color of your plugs and if there tan or black I would think its a timing issue like bad wires or cap. Check every plug not just one cuz it could be and probably is just one or two cylinders that's doing it.
