The pan holding 6 qts and the filter holding 2 qts nets a 8 qt capacity ...

How oil does a boat engine contain? Wouldn't you match that? Or just match the full mark on the dipstick regardless if it takes 20 gallons of oil?

Not sure ??

I bought the pan off of eBay, didn't get a dipstick with it ..

My concern is to not to over fill, want the oil to be below the crankshaft by a inch or two ...
With where I have the oil level almost touching the GM windage tray is going to be my full mark on the dipstick ..

Hadn't got around to making the stick just yet ..
Going to wait till the motor is in the truck cause I want it close to radiator ..
Be easy to reach without climbing on a fender ..

This one is 32 inches long ..
Can get one longer if I see the need ..

Too much oil above a certain level is not good. I would imagine go with original type dipstick because that would be correct engine level. The extra size oil pan should be designed with that in mind. That's my 2 penny's worth.

Another thought I had was with your race gear inside the pan maybe search forums about what the racers are doing for oil levels.
