Sorry for the post. I am sure this has been covered. I have done a search on the forum, but have not seen the info I am after. I bought an 87 V20 5.7 TBI that is in the process of being converted to a carburetor. The wiring is gone and fuel lines in the engine compartment have been cut. I have decided to put an LM7 in it. I need to change the fuel pumps in the tank for the higher fuel pressure. A Walbro 255 LPH is what is suggested, but that is not a part number. When I look it up, it comes up as a GCA758 or a 342
summit racing has a kit that has the wiring, filter, pump and line for $120. Will I need all that or just a pump and filter?

based on reviews and what a lot are using, I used the wix filter and ACDelco pump below. Verify the Walbro info before using, this was just a quick google search I did.

I used the ACDelco EP381 with a 31 gallon 'burb sender. Search/verify that as well. Don't forget we get a discount with RockAuto as well.

I would recommend calling fuelpumps.net and get a verified fuel pump from them for your original donor vehicle application. Just let them know its for an LS swap so they don't try to sell you the whole sending unit assembly. Chinese knock-offs for LS fuel pumps are rampant and FP.net sells a certified Walbro product and you can specify the donor vehicle to get just the fuel pump. If you pay less than 75 bucks for fuel pump I would not be surprised if you end up replacing that cheaper pump for one and at the expense of having to go elbow deep in a full tank (not to mention dropping it right after you filled up of course). I went cheap on mine but i have a Jimmy, so I made an access hole for when it comes time to do mine.

Curious if you had issues with the ACDelco?

Yes, people have reported issues with them because there are a lot of chinese knockoffs across all brands.

If you’re going with a stock intake/ engine
I’d opt for the lower priced one.
I didn’t run duals
But I’m under the impression that it can handle 65psi on the stock one.
A while back I was talking to @gmachinz for an upgraded harness/ new sector valve

Thanks for all the info. I am finding that the actual engine installation is going to be the easy part. Adapting everything to support is a pain in the butt.

The reason people use the EP 381 is that it fits the basket and has the right pigtail on it, no splice needed.

I think at a certain year the connectors changed but I am not sure what the break-off is but I think it is when the 89, 90 and 91 models were introduced. I notice also that the connectors on the tailgate were different. They went from a rubber coated plug to a GM weatherpack type. Small changes like that that just changed from the last couple of generations as they were producing the c/k half ton trucks at the same time.
