Holy crap!

I sold it cheap Dawg !!! They are on eBay for $150-$200 for used. I figured $100 would be a good deal. Had to add 10% of minimum bid for But it Now so I put $110. He bought it now. I'll be shipping it out in the AM.

That didn't take long did it??? Hopefully the gears for $100 too. Haven't listed them yet.

I had no idea they went for that. I think I paid 50 bucks for my carrier and another 40-50 bucks for the rusty gears.

Ebay usually brings good money for stuff like that. If I can get this Bearing retainer off this pinion gear, these gears have cleaned up better than I expected, and show little to no wear at all I was going to post them on Ebay for $100 too for OE gears. The next cheapest gear on there is $169 for China made gears. So $100 for lightly used OEM GM gears should be a good deal to someone on eBay. There is a guy who has a 4.56 carrier and the 4.56 gears from a used CUCV for $350.

I've got plenty of 3.73 and 4.10 axles, in 10 bolts, 14b Semi Floats and 14b Full Floats, so I see no reason to go 4.56's. Of course I'll regret it if I acquire a CUCV Dana 60 Front, so I'm selling off all the 4.56 stuff and hoarding all the 3.73 and 4.10 stuff. Oh, and selling off the 3.08 10 bolt set of axles from the 8KK10 too.

I like the 4.56 stuff. The crew cab has them, the K5 will, and the '88 Burb will too if I ever get around to it.

I love 4.56 stuff. But being the loser I am, I have to go for the cheaper easier to find more common stuff. Had I been able to put together a 2wd Street/Strip truck, I probably would have used the CUCV rear end in one of the C20s.

That's what I had in my 64 GMC 3/4 ton. Leaf Spring Dana 60 with 4.56 Limited Slip Posi unit on 31in and sometimes 33in x 12.50 tires with a Th350. Wasn't so bad back then when the speed limit was 55. I pretty much drove 60mph with the motor screamin.

So, I thought these gears cleaned up pretty nice. After taking the pics and editing them, I see some pits in 2 ring teeth and chip on the edge of a 3rd tooth. Sooo I don't think I'll list them now. Prolly be OK, but being I couldn't get the Pinion pressed out of the Pinion Bearing Carrier/Retainer, I think I'll scrap the ring gear and put the Carrier Retainer back in the axle housing and sell the bare axle housing on CL instead. Here's what the gears looked like. Notice in Pic 3. The 2 rusty spots on the ring don't look that bad, but when the cam gets in close, it looks bad. I'd still use them if I needed them, but not worth an unhappy customer.

That's what mine look like and I bought them like that.

If you leave the pinion support pressed on there, wouldn't that make it much easier to setup in another housing, not having to worry about the pinion preload or whatnot? If that's the case, having the support on there and setup adds to the value.

Yep, but I wanted it off and was going to sell the gears and sell the axle housing for cheap on CL. Also cheaper to ship, but it all fit in a Flat Rate box so weight didn't matter. But it was to late when I decdied to throw in the towel. I already had the pinion nut off and didn't mark it not anticipating it going back togehter.

Yeah, WOW !!! Guess I don't want one that bad, cuz for $175, I can have a real nice 10K RPM Monster Tach with adjustable shift light and Rev Limiter.
