Well, I'll try it and see how it goes. The paint would probably end up wearing off:shrug:
Magic markers great stuff too. Comes in all two of Your favorite colors, well, maby juz a couple more or so.

I may have to try this, though for the life of me i do not remember a bushing on the door latch pin, and this truck has sat in the drive for 30 1/2 of my 35 years.

I was going to go into the door and replace the latch mechanisms.

Yup! Fixed it right up. I found this thread a week or so into owning my Burb, which the driver's door especially was tough to close. The top of the striker was starting to grind down, and I was wondering what to do about it when I stumbled across the thread. As a commercial plumber by trade, we had entire 100 ft. rolls of it at the shop (imagine how many squares could be fixed up with that amount!) Even got it in blue to color match. Great fix, couldn't be happier!

This was the first thread I read when I found the forum site. A week later I tried this and wow! It was like night and day. I as others have mentioned, I had to retrain my passengers to no longer Slam the door!

Been over 3 years now on my 85 C20 and they're still working great. If you have a piece of pex left over, make 2 more and keep them in your glove box. They make good conversation starters when you run into someone with a square. You can fix their doors for them right then and there and tell them about gmsquarebody.com to go sign up.

Thank you very much! I just did this and am totally blown away by the results. I should still address the tear above the top hinge on the passengers door, but I don't feel the same rush to do it. Now I'm wondering if I even need to push to get new seals on it now to keep the water out. I spent a half hour reading through here and 5 minutes executing it.

Certainly the best bang for the buck as far as repairs on these trucks. I hear of people saying, I figured all new door latches and BS. Nope !!!

Yeah that's crazy talk. I think I might go buy 3/4 to see if it will wrap all the way around and still close the door correctly though. I didn't like that it left some space behind the striker.

classicparts.com has the replacement bushing for the striker. 99 cents. I rather have the proper part instead of rigging it up. Plus it's built for it. Piping isn't. But this is a good fix for when it does break and you can't replace it right away.
