I wish one of us was there with you, I think we would have had this problem nailed down a while ago. It's much harder to diagnose over the internet.

Your telling me. I have considered putting the damn thing on a trailer and heading down to Caesars house lol. It's got to be valves or the intake or the cam.

They are all sticking out a little ways except one. It's going to be close. Hopefully enough to get a pair of vise grips on. Ongoing to go ahead and put the headers on while I'm messing with it.

If the vise grip doesn't work try welding on a nut. The heat from that should break the bolt loose.

Well the intake is off. The bottom is clean, but the runners are black. How normal is that?

I meant the ports. The gaskets are still on, so that's why the runners are black lol

I have never seen the underside of intake shaped like that, but then again I haven't looked inside a lot of engines. Perhaps a single plane intake? As far as the black ports, I don't know, possibly due to the issues you've been having with the backfiring, running rich and such?

I guess I'm going to go ahead and pull everything else off so I can pull the timing cover and make sure I didn't jump a tooth. Leave no stone unturned I reckon.

Yea that looks like a single plain intake. A lot of folks buy them for street applications, but a single plain trumps it in a daily driven ride.

8 bloody knuckles later, I quit for the night. It's fkn cold out there. This might be a dumb question, but is there some kind of trick to holding the water pump pully so I can get the fan bolts out?

Belt on I use a vise grip to hold one bolt and a box wrench on another...

**** I already took all the alternator bolts out. I will mess with it tomorrow. If the timing chain is still good, out comes the cam. Then I will put it all back together and do the valve adjustment and see what happens. Hope to have it running this weekend.

You can do it with out the belt :) if your removing the cam might as well put on a new t chain bud. :)

I plan on putting a double roller on it.
