Get the valve lash done and let's see what that does. I remember you said something about ticking in the valve train

Nice... Kinda wish I had gotten a bigger cam.

I assume it's not normal... It didn't used to pop like that. I will take a video tomorrow so you can hear it. The truck sounds awesome when reved, but the idle surges and it pops like that at idle. I didn't drive it today but I did back the idle mix screws out a bit more to see if it would help and it didn't.

I can't remember if I asked this the other day or not, but if I'm not running my vacuum advance, is my timing too retarded at 12*?

I would say test to advance some more, but that back firing is questionable. Give it a shot.

I have to go to town today so I'm going to go ahead and pick up some stuff I need to find the problem. New PCV valve, mines a bit broken and keeps trying to push out of the grommet. New square bore gasket, so I can slap the Eddy back on and make sure that my tall adapter isn't causing too much turbulence. a new intake gasket in case nothing else works. I might grab some sea foam to run through it to help clear out any crap that might be in the fuel system. Probably due for a new set of plugs, as these already have about 15 minutes of run time on them and are probably fouling out already.

I will set the lash first, and then proceed with all this other stuff.

The first vid is just of me starting it cold. Doesn't seem too bad today. The popping starts in the second vid after it warms up a bit.

Well I got everything but the carb gasket. Guess I will reuse one of my old ones. Did you have a chance to watch that video?

Make sure you have zero leaks from your header gaskets.

I was about to ask about that. I think I have a manifold leak. I could hear it ticking yesterday. I will try to tighten it. Not going to be good if I have to replace them. There are a few bolts that are broke off and I don't think they are going to be easy to get out.
