Dashpad fit

Got a project truck, 78 big 10 with gm dashpad in box.. none in cab. Also got new ac vents. Driver side vent fit is my problem. There is a tab on upper left that sits forward 1/2 inch. Afraid i’ll break it off . Any clue as to what i am doung wring??

You might need to put the vent in first. I forget the order of how I did mine.

the picture may not be clear enough to see the tab on upper left; do you think the vent assy belongs behind the whole metal dash??

I'd try it behind the metal. The vent is missing from my parts truck, so its a definite maybe.

Thanks, that was it; mount screw it up to the metal dash. This truck has been a Lego set assembly with no instructions… but its cool now! Thanks again.

Start the vent under and behind the dash. Approach from behind.

I've had my whole system out a few times to clean it. Ever seen the crap that accumulates inside the system, all the ducts and whatnot? I can be nasty. Bugs, stray leaves that blow in, even mice nests, pencils, coins, you'd be surprised what you may find that fell in there from the defrost vents. If you are in there at this point pull it all out and wash it with soap and warm water. Those phantom smells will disappear.
