Think it could be possible to use a AD244 without much trouble?

I never understood the fascination with the CS130. Why not just pop a 100, or 120, or 150 Amp 12SI aftermarket clone on, with the stock brackets and wiring?

Costs. I can get a 60a 10si for $25, 90A cs130 for $80 or a 145a ad244 for $50.

I couldn't buy any of these new for cheaper than that. And I am pretty sure it's minimal work to make the cs130 work.

A 94-amp reman 12SI from O'Reillly's is 70 bucks, and it drops right in.

The cs144 is just flat out more durable. I've been doing some stress testing and have found it just won't fail. At 500rpm it had minimal amp output if it is given a high amp draw instead of the rectifier bridge or voltage regulator failing the alternator goes into protect mode and colds down for a sec the stats right back up. During this protect mode the alternator will not generate a charging output... No worries the engine won't die because it will kick back on before you know it :). Testing has been done as follows. (4) 50w lights, heater set to high, wipers on, Windows going up and another 60 amp draw from the zx750 I've had countless 10si and 12so alternators over the years fail given these conditions. Sure they are capable of high output but at idle is where it matters and this is where the cs144 shines. Protecting against failure.

American vs Canadian pricing is massive :p
Junk yard. Most I'd recommend replacing are the brushes :) $10

I put a CS130 120amp alternator in my truck with a new adaptor for the wiring connection. Everything is working good, except for the oil pressure gauge. It registers fine idling in park or cruising. When I come to a stop light and its idling in drive, my oil pressure guage goes crazy, its all over the place.

Mine did the same thing, I even have a video of it on my YT channel. I replaced the gauge and it worked fine.

I think this thread should be renamed from 130 amp upgrade to Alternator Upgrade lol.

I got my hands on a CS144 this weekend and despite what people say it isn't that hard to install. The two things to keep in mine..

1) Either create your pigtail or buy one.
2) You only have to modify the bolt slot and essentially you remote all the material and then loosen the bolts for the bracket and slide it in.

Or put washers under the bracket on the intake. How is it going so far?

I'm using a aftermarket intake. If I put washer under there then it would increase the distance the bracket requires to bolt to the water pump.

I have a bunch of wiring I'm going to need to upgrade but I have a bunch of 4g wire I'll be using.

I will also look into using a turnbuckle style to see how that works too.
