Cowl hood

If LMC wants close to 200 bucks for shipping on a pair of spindles, i can imagine my cost to buy a cowl hood would be nearly double...

Anyone have success making their own cowl hood by modifying the exising one?
I was thinking of slicing a strip out on either sides of the center rib, lifting it and welding in sides to create a cowl...anyone try this?

It's been done. It takes a LOT of skill and patience to make it look good and turn out right. Extreme care must be taken to avoid warps and buckles.

how would they want $200 for spindles? did they ship truck freight?

If so then the cost will be the same. You do know lmc is not the only cowl hood maker or seller I should say. I bought one from summit, made by harwood, fiberglass 4 inch outlaw z for a monte carlo and shipping to home was less then $150 for truck freight. I say go to jegs or summit and buy the cowl hood you want. They have some goodmark and others, steel and fiberglass.

Google Pro Body Parts. You probably have a local one in your province. They can get you any thing that any body else sells. On your side of the border with out all the duty crap and shipping costs

Ive always thought that a 1" cowl with slightly beveled sides with out the center crease would look good on a square ???

I always liked the L88 hood on a low rider.

BTW-Nice looking square 74propu. I like the tilt forward hood and the suicide doors. Nice. You don't see that everyday. Good job.
