Can you build a new box from lmc truck?

I bought an 84 c10 that im completely redoing. My box is repairable not completely shot but would need two bed sides, tail gate, possibly a floor instead of messing around doing patch jobs. I live in Michigan so finding a good long box with no rust isn't possible. If you find one someone wants 1500 to 2000. Then you still need to strip down and spend a few weeks getting it perfect. I was wondering if its possible to just buy everything from lmc and assembly a brand new bed. Has anyone ever done this? Or will it like crap?

I have done just this with a 67-72 fleet side short bed. Parts came from another supplier but same idea. If you go this route, rustproof all hard to reach areas before assembly. And take time fitting bedsides to assure proper gaps on the tailgate, and keeping the box square. Expensive option, but turns out nice with time and effort. Hope this helps.

Thats one damn good looking bed. I had planned on rust proofing the bottom then top coating it. Also a spray in bed liner. I rather spend money on a brand new bed then waste my days away fixing mine.

You can buy all the parts from LMC but each bedside will cost you somewhere around $700. Floor is like $950 and tailgate $250. Total around $2600 plus paint. You could buy a whole truck down here, running, for that.
Honestly, if you were to drive down to Texas and pick up the one I have I'd sell it for $400 (complete with non-matching tailgate). It's not perfect but if I were building a long bed it would be a great starter spot. I'd rate it an 8 out of 10. Some small dings but never wrecked and no large dents. It would probably need paint to match your truck.

It is crazy what is being asked for parts but when people want original and they're hard to come by that's what happens.

I agree with @Scott91370 yes, you can build a new bed. All the pieces are available thru different vendors (Truck Shop seems to have the best price)
But it will cost you a small fortune. Shop around for a used one, they’re still around and I’ve seen some in great shape. Check Craigslist etc. there’s a guy on Indianapolis CR that has California C-10 Parts..cabs and beds.

The guy on Indianapolis CL is actually east of Pittsburgh PA. About 6-7 hour drive one way.

I don't have an answer for you, but if you do go the LMC route please keep us updated! I'm curious about the quality of their new Goodmark replacement parts and might consider them for repairing my shortbed.

Then it will look awesome, cost about as much as you're willing to spend, will still be the original bed, and you don't even have to be bothered. Man, must be nice to have money to throw at trucks lol

I thought about doing that but my plan from the beginning was to do a full restoration by myself.
