Yea im over the double hump heads guys. I was more or less talking my self out of doing anything since im looking at 1k to do the vortecs right and was thinking it will only be around 200hp and still have an old motor while a gm crate will bolt in with warranty for 1,500 and be at 260hp was my train of thought.

That 260 hp engine is for a car.

HR, lol i just keep spinning in circles.... cus i HAVE a 91 tbi FREE! but shes rough and alot of work for modest gain.... my brain hurts from thinking about what i should do. Just rob the TBI heads??? then i need intake.... then mite as well swap the tbi....then im back to alot of work for modest gain lol get were im coming from bud.

really? cus its an lt1? wish they had a dyno of it.

Lt1 is a Vette,camaro/ firechicken, caprice/rodmaster engine. way different than a regular small block. 2k will get you a vortec replacement truck engine, with roller cam.

Booshit !!! That 260hp Crate motor at Jegs can go in a Truck no problem and run well. What specifies a car motor and a truck motor for crate engines??? :srhug: I'd run that motor in my truck. In fact, that's probably what I have in my 85K1500 with an Eddy EPS intake, headers and Eddy 600 carb. Runs just fine and has no problem getting up to 70mph fairly good for a stocker to get on the freeway.

here is the correct engine...CHP i think did a story on this one. papers said 165 hp, turned out to be a **** load more.

GM part number 12530283... Gets you a nodular crank, 4 bolt mains, roller cam, and Vortec heads, with a GM warranty. Add a Vortec intake, swap the timing cover for an older version, the factory timing set for one for a TPI V8, and a flexplate for a 1 piece rear main engine, and you're in business with a way better platform for not a lot of extra money.

I'd run that 260HP he linked to all day long. So what's the difference in the Car and Truck motor, if they're apples to apples? The CAM can only be the difference if he Comp Ratio, Rods, Crank, Heads and block are the same. I think if you looked at the cam specs, you'd agree, it makes a good truck motor. Unless this one is different than the $1500 motor I'm used to seeing.

This doesn't sound bad at all. IIRC, The 4 bm, Nodular crank and powder metal LT1 con rods are also included in this $1500 motor. But, the Roller Cam and Vortec heads certainly set it apart from the rest. I'll have to check that one out.

Here it is, $420 More. Well worth it for the Vortec Heads and roller cam motor. Add the intake, carb and headers, I'd imagine getting close to 300hp is possible.

I still don't get this though. I did find that on Jegs again. Look at the specs. How can you say that's a car engine??? :shrug:

Says truck motor to me all day long.

Low compression, 4 bolt main, 112 degree lobe separation on the cam for the very low end torque. :shrug:
