And for $500 more, you can have one with a clean title and runs...

I like how midway through the post this starts:

"...This truck has been babied.

It needs someone who can install a new/used engine.
Rear door, where the spare tire is, has a small dent & the back handle needs to be replaced. Nothing bad for someone who knows how to work on vehicles.
Needs a stereo & some someone who will appreciate this truck, like we all have.

Savalged title because of front grill damange etc. No major parts were hurt & it drives completely straight, hands free.
This vehicle, will take you where you want to go.
It's metal, it's safe & it get's a LOT better gas mileage than my newer truck. "

When I "baby" my vehicles they don't need all this work to bring them back up to speed....

I was on it, but no money. Its a fact, if I dont have any money I will see unbelievable deals on craigslist. My wife's student loans came in the mail but the check would not clear until 3 days later.

I called the guy and said I cant pay until Tuesday, I did not ask him to hold it for me. But sure as ****, as soon as I have a few bucks to spend on my truck all the deals are gone. I also missed out on a later model pickup with the exact configuration I want for 800 bucks!

Welcome to life my brutha !!! That's the way the **** works. Look at that 85K1500 I bought for $500. I spend my damn house payment funds on that thing. I recovered though. House payment got paid 10 days late. Sold some other parts and Got'r Done.
You're truck probably has the configuration I want. I'd prefer to have a SM465 in my 4x4's, at least one of them. They are all Auto's though. Go figure, I can build Auto's in my sleep but I want manual trans. I can do manuals too, but not in my sleep. I have to concentrate on those. You never did figure out your gear ratio on yours did you? I prefer a 3.73 or 4.10 ratio. Probably moreso a 3.73 with the manual trans and no OD. Granny gear can make up some low end pull if you have a taller gear. Even a 3.42 in your truck woudln't be to bad. Just so long as its not a damn 3.08 or 2.73. Dumbest thing GM ever did, putting a friggin station wagon gear ratio in a truck.
Although it was done to please the Feds. Fleet mpg requirments got strickter as well as emssiions, so they did it with the majority of the fleet being sold with tall gears.

Yea its got 3.08's. I like the highway speed, it cruises comfortable at 65. I realize when it comes to any kind of hard core wheelin my truck is a **** with the gear ratio and np208 transfer case. Still very capable off road, I know it will go places no problem and would rather not wheel it hard since the body is straight.

I had this grand plan in action, I was going to get a compression tester, pry bar and head over to that dudes house. Stash the motor in the back of my truck with my 2 transmissions until I could get a place with a garage.

Buy a work bench and rebuild the original SM465 that came out of my truck, after that go through the 350, basically the same thing your doing that the one you picked up for 100 bucks. Couple the two together with a new clutch and throwout bearing and do a whole drivetrain change out when the 305 finally goes.

Im now missing 1 corner of my triangle.

Your's will be OK for what you want it for, and being a manual trans and a granny gear, you should be able to pull what ever you need to with it.

Yeah, sooner or later you gotta get a garage. Noway in hell I can live in an apt. I have been considering selling my house since I live in a small 4 bedroom house, 2 full baths, 2 car garage all by myself, that I'd sell it and move to something smaller and have a few thousand in the bank from my equity, but then I realized, my house payment is cheap. I can't live in a decent 2 bedroom apt for what my house payment is, so I better just stay put. And if I move, my rent would be going up, and I'd have a landlord telling me what I could have and couldn't have. F That !!! I'll stay here and struggle to make it til better times.

I'd go nuts without my garage. It's just a two car garage but it's better than nothing! In a few years I hope to have a bigger space :D

Life without a garage sucks man. My last garage was where I spent most of my time, I had an old couch and tv. I loved it.

I still cant believe I changed that transmission in my truck without anyone noticing. I may have found a duplex thats affordable and has a big garage, I just hope there is somewhere to connect my pressure washer.
