I use them.
I make the kids use them.

I had a decade of stained black hands that needed to have a pumice stone to get 80% clean.
Now with all the chemicals and crap, there is no need to not have them on.

When they go on sale I buy several boxes of my size and some for the kids as well.

I'm in the no gloves camp (except when digging, trimming trees and shrubs, splitting wood or doing concrete work). Wrenching is a hobby not my career. Gloves slow me down, and I feel like I have less dexterity when I wear them. I do get cuts and scrapes. the joke is that I leave my DNA on the projects that I work on. Fast Orange is my go-to for clean-up.

I don't mind a little grease, dirt, oil, whatever, BUT I wear gloves a lot because I'm a huge clumsy oaf and I'm always cutting myself or skinning my knuckles on something when I don't wear them. I've been working on my truck a lot lately, sometimes without gloves, and I can count six injuries on my hands right now. I usually wear something with a little padding, like Mechanix style, when it's dry work, and when I'm gonna get oily or super greasy then I'll wear some thick nitrile ones for the worst of it, just so I don't have to stop and wash it off before moving on to the next task.

Gloves for me when possible. I came across a knit glove with rubber dipping on the hand print side very comfy and protective but still can feel what I am doing pretty well.

My hands dry out and crack very easily which becomes painful and harder to work with. Here is the ones I use I love them. They will get slick if the get oily but I always keep a rag nearby to wipe them off and keep truckin. Only time they suck is when doing an oil change and the wool part soaks up some oil splatter. I keep an old used pair just for that so I can throw them out afterwards.

And a trick to break these type of gloves in easier is spray some brake cleaner on the rubber part and rub your hands like a bar of soap. It softens up the rubber and makes it more elastic.

About 2001 one of the guys in the shop got mechanix gloves. Pat my boss who I worked for from 1985 until about 2001, he looked at them. And said I don't want anything to get between me and my pain. In another note,Pat called me the other day,asking me how to do something. ( This man knows more about automobiles than just about anyone I ever met),and I still ask him things every now and then. Anyways told him how it needed to be done,he was at a disadvantage he didn't take it apart. So I was explaining,so I thought,how it worked and how it went together. Pat says don't lecture me just tell me how to fix the effing thing. Made me think of @gritdog telling me I lecture people. Sorry,I just think I'm explaining.
