LOL - still a crappy pic after 3 tries, and I could not really tell thru the phone what I was focused on. Trying, of course, to get the Oil Change Light pictured …

Crap, you sir are correct, I thought there was an Oil Change light for Trans Ams and a Service Vehicle light for Camaros. I'm kinda doubtful now that what I mentioned will make the light go out.

Well more bad news for the camaro. My BBK ssi intake is broke. **** me!! Now I have to decide on what to do now. That's an expensive intake and I don't think i want a new one. Don't know if it can be repaired or be worth doing it.

Guess I can look around for a good used one for sale. Damn the bad luck!

How does that happen? You might find someone who can weld that stuff and then machine it back so it would seal. Tough luck for sure!

Looks like they left it too thin there when designing it or something melted it there.

Eff it - Go buy a used wonder plastic one for cheap and be done.

Or, like TravisB said, if it can be fixed.

Hope it all works out .

Best of luck!

Britt

PS cars ( and trucks !) are an expensive hobby.

Should have just got hooked on drugs- cheaper.

Anthony called me back and said he had a guy that would give me a Ls2 intake if I gave him mine. He would fix it and use it. So I'm leaning toward that because it costs me nothing and the hp difference between the 2 isn't worth the money to me to get it fixed or buy a new one. I found one new for $500 but, I really don't want to pit that in it. I also don't want a repaired one either so idk.

Well you ain't going to believe this ****. The ls2 intake didn't work due to the throttle cable assembly doesn't match up. Fuckn always something. So now I ordered the BBK SSI intake that was broke originally. I found a new one for half. So I jumped on it. Found a Ls1 intake used for 200. I paid 500 for the new BBK SSI intake that gives an extra 18-24 Hp, and think it was worth the extra 300. Plus it's already tuned to the BBK. It was gonna cost a extra 150 to have it tuned to the Ls1 intake because it didn't have an EGR and with a loss of Hp.

Stay tuned. Because with my luck some ******** is bound to happen.:(

Told ya to wait a minute and some **** would happen. So I called the guy I ordered the new BBK ssi intake this morning. Just to tell him it's going to the shop and not my house. He tells me that he has to check the price because it was $300 lower than normal and make sure. He called me back a couple hours later and said that BBK discontinued that intake and he'd refund my money. Cool but, ****, I still need an intake.

So I call Anthony and tell him I want to pick it up and see in person what I'm dealing with. Well finally something goes my way! I think I can fix it at the shop. I'm taking it in tomorrow and see if I can fix it.

I think I just need to get Joe to weld up that left port and then I'll manually machine the o-ring groove. We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed. Lol I hope I don't hit another snag.

Be sure to take pictures too.

So what caused the intake to burst open like that?

From what we could tell was that it was made too thin in that spot and eventually burned thru. Not for certain but, there were no grinding marks so idk.

Seems like an odd failure especially for a car that isn't boosted in some fashion.
Hope it's back on the road soon.

I thought that looked like it was designed too thin. I bet that's why it was discontinued. Hopefully you can build it up and get it to seal properly.

Man I'm glad you didnt go through with the swap. Like you found out the TB is different, plus the drive by cable and drive by wire difference. You would also need LS2 fuel rails.

That intake looks repairable to me. I'd buy a gasket to place in there, tap the aluminum down a bit then build up some JB weld around it. Wouldnt hurt to try thats for sure.

If you look for a 98-00 LS1 intake it will have EGR provisions. They should be pretty common but who knows what people want for them because of all the LS swaps going on.

Finally some good news. Ol boy is gonna fix it for $250. Gonna take it to work Mon and my buddy at work will take it to him on his way home from work. So I've put new o-rings on injectors and cleaned it up.
