You may just have to deal with dropping the trans crossmember some and maybe clearancing the floor some too.
I have a few crossmembers lying around to spare that I can cut up and fab up a "s10 np208" crossmember

Rear end out!
Time to strip it down, regear, and if needed cut shock and spring pads off to relocate in the old s10!

You need to fab up a new front bumper. Oh and ditch the led bar. Lol

I am gonna make some sort of bumper I think, with a front hitch that I can put a winch on.

I may have already asked this, but does someone have a programmer for a 93 or 94 4l60e?
When the time the swap comes, I'm wanting to tighten shift points and reprogram the trans for the 4.56 gears and the 36x14's

I would pay your shipping to send, and to return, and would even be willing to pay you a fee to use it

Unless they can be had cheap, then I'll just buy one

Drunk babblings incoming!

But I promise this is informative :

So, a new issue I didn't consider has arisen? Arosen? Arised? ARRIVED!
I don't know, I don't care.

VSS!!!!!!!
I haven't had internet for a week now (at home)

It got fixed EARLY this morning, att called me while I was still in my boxers to inform me they were gonna be @ my place in 15 min

I know nobody knows this, but I have a overactive brain, so I don't sleep alot.

And late at night, when I'm drinking and my brain is racing around, I surf the web and READ, because there's guys out there older and more knowledgeable than me that have been thru stuff that I haven't yet.

I looked into bolting up a np208 behind a 4l60e (before I pulled the t case from the 87 parts truck)

Possible!
BUT
Theres a unexpected issue I will have to address... A functional speedo and trans that'll shift...
And thinking it thru now....

YES, 4x4 trucks read final drivetrain speed thru the t case, whereas 2wd trucks read it from the trans.....

Since I'm dealing with a 94 s10, it'll be using a VSS, no cable [emoji24] , while some trucks have it on the t case, others, namely Ford, have it in the rear axle.

(while dismantling my 99 isuzu rodeo today, upon pulling the d44 rear end, I discovered a little wire going to the rear end, I GOT SO EXCITED I THOUGH I HAD A E LOCKER, only to pop the diff cover and discover a reluctor ring inside, no locker so add that to experience list vince)

Might I add, a isuzu rodeo/Honda passport has a 3 link d44 rear end with 4.30 gears that are the same width as a s10

ANYWAY!

My np241 or whatever is in the s10 uses a VSS, so...... I have 2 choices..

Back to square 1, chop up the 10 bolt and switch drop sides, keep my s10's np241

OR

Do a hillbilly customs special and retro fit a reluctor ring and sensor up to a np208 so I can have a speedo and a trans that shifts.....

Now I will say, on the big trucks like I'm building (44+ tire sizes, 20"+ lifts, etc etc) , I've seen guys retro fit up a reluctor ring behind their custom drop cases so they can have a speedo AND ULTIMATELY have a transmission that shifts...

Ya know.... I hate to be kinda old fashion here, but I really wish EVEN 1994 tech wasn't so complicated... Wtf happened to a turbohydramatic transmission that didn't need bs sensors to shift? Just a kick down or vacuum line.

Since I love OD, and I really don't want to get into the hassle of running a 700r4 behind my 4.3 and arguing with the computer, I'll have to consider my options.

To the crowd that gives a rats arse and is watching:

What do you think I should do?

I forgot about the VSS.

Option C: continue with the np208 plan, but use an np 241 from a '90 or '91 K5/Suburban.

I do remember reading about using a 90 or 91 np241 from a burb or k5 so I can have a vss

But isn't that hard to find?

In the grand scheme of truck production they are less common, but GM probably built a few hundred thousand of them. Or more.

It would still save a bunch of axle housing fab.

I'd be all for it, I don't exactly want to cut the axle, however it'd be cool

I think scouring the junkyard will be my best option, as soon as I get a little time.

There's still the issue of reprogramming for 4.56's and the 36" tire.
I spoke with a friend last night who builds transmissions for a living, him and his brother they're all into the LS craze and so forth.

Anwyays, so I ask him about reprogramming a 1993 4l60e for different gears and tires, he seemed to indicate he was unfamiliar with communicating with the computer on a older 4l60e.

That said, I'm not sure what to do.
The one thing him and I did agree on is, me machining my own reluctor ring with more or less teeth to compensate for the lower gears and bigger tires.

Does anyone have any input on this subject?
That seems like the only likely thing at this point is to make another reluctor ring with +/- teeth, unless the s10 has a DRAC module stuffed away somewhere like a 89-95 full size does.

Talk about a kick in the balls... It's 30 something degrees, I just got done pulling the motor apart in the s10, head gasket off, she blew a head gasket last night on me!
50,000 miles since it's birth, and this is how it repays me? What the hell!

Last night it started smoking out of the ex pipe like a freight train, I made it to pickup my daughter, headed back home, engine temp started to rise... I shut her down immediately on the road, had family come and bring several jugs of hot water, I poured water in, kept back on the path home, about 30 yards from home, it ran out of water again and engine temp started to rise, I shut it off again and cruised into the driveway going 55...

Anyway.... Head gasket off, they're on order........ figure while I'm at it, I'll port the heads out a little, make it go zoom a little better. Not sure as to why the head gasket/gaskets failed when it's got 50k on the clock... But regardless, I planned on coming Back from this with more power than before with a few low budget mods... A little thinner head gasket, port the heads for higher flow, may even mill a little bit off the head itself.
I've been putting 87 octane in, I guess after this, I'll have to move up to 93 and keep it there, no big deal.

Not to mention, oil change and new spark plugs now [emoji58]

So here we are, back to this, the np233 adapter does not fit on a np208 unfortunately.
Which means, the whole idea of changing drop sides with a np208 is out of the question.

Back to the idea of cutting the axle tubes off i guess

Letter from the editor:
NP208 and it's adapter will bolt behind a s10's 4l60e.
