Drunk babblings incoming!
But I promise this is informative :
So, a new issue I didn't consider has arisen? Arosen? Arised? ARRIVED!
I don't know, I don't care.
VSS!!!!!!!
I haven't had internet for a week now (at home)
It got fixed EARLY this morning, att called me while I was still in my boxers to inform me they were gonna be @ my place in 15 min
I know nobody knows this, but I have a overactive brain, so I don't sleep alot.
And late at night, when I'm drinking and my brain is racing around, I surf the web and READ, because there's guys out there older and more knowledgeable than me that have been thru stuff that I haven't yet.
I looked into bolting up a np208 behind a 4l60e (before I pulled the t case from the 87 parts truck)
Possible!
BUT
Theres a unexpected issue I will have to address... A functional speedo and trans that'll shift...
And thinking it thru now....
YES, 4x4 trucks read final drivetrain speed thru the t case, whereas 2wd trucks read it from the trans.....
Since I'm dealing with a 94 s10, it'll be using a VSS, no cable [emoji24] , while some trucks have it on the t case, others, namely Ford, have it in the rear axle.
(while dismantling my 99 isuzu rodeo today, upon pulling the d44 rear end, I discovered a little wire going to the rear end, I GOT SO EXCITED I THOUGH I HAD A E LOCKER, only to pop the diff cover and discover a reluctor ring inside, no locker so add that to experience list vince)
Might I add, a isuzu rodeo/Honda passport has a 3 link d44 rear end with 4.30 gears that are the same width as a s10
ANYWAY!
My np241 or whatever is in the s10 uses a VSS, so...... I have 2 choices..
Back to square 1, chop up the 10 bolt and switch drop sides, keep my s10's np241
OR
Do a hillbilly customs special and retro fit a reluctor ring and sensor up to a np208 so I can have a speedo and a trans that shifts.....
Now I will say, on the big trucks like I'm building (44+ tire sizes, 20"+ lifts, etc etc) , I've seen guys retro fit up a reluctor ring behind their custom drop cases so they can have a speedo AND ULTIMATELY have a transmission that shifts...
Ya know.... I hate to be kinda old fashion here, but I really wish EVEN 1994 tech wasn't so complicated... Wtf happened to a turbohydramatic transmission that didn't need bs sensors to shift? Just a kick down or vacuum line.
Since I love OD, and I really don't want to get into the hassle of running a 700r4 behind my 4.3 and arguing with the computer, I'll have to consider my options.
To the crowd that gives a rats arse and is watching:
What do you think I should do?
