Plans are to hit the uwharrie national forest december 4th, 5th, and maybe 6th.



For some back story if anyone remembers, i started this project last winter.
Then covid hit.

Then my trail buddy had a severe facial injury (a roof truss smacked his face and ripped a chunk out)

Then my trans blew

Then me and my bud were both working ALOT, thus no time for the rigs.

We're finally approaching a place where we are both ready.

Ouch! The thought of that injury gives me the willies.

Oo it was bad, he sent pics, he was missing meat from between his eyebrows to close to the tip of his nose.... poor guy... that put a big hamper on his jeep funds.

He had to have butt skin sewed on!

Woo, what a ****** weekend!


Started out, i added fluid to my front diff, put a plug in.

Check.



Bought 12 quarts of atf started it pour 4 in saturday....

Found a leak at the t case...


Removed it, RTV'ed it, reinstalled.


Next day, return to adding fluid....


Then a new leak appears... At the TCM Plug on the trans.... i could take pliars and tug on it leak would stop....


Battery was dead asf, i jumped it, fired truck up, truck wouldnt move...... ok.... went to put in park, gears ground? (Weird at the time)


No fix in sight... so i went to oreilly got a new big collection pan, a large funnel with a fine mesh strainer... came back, pulled the pan, collected about 4 quarts (from the pan)

My battery was under warranty, so i got it replaced.

Get home, install the new battery..
Slide back under the s10, pull the pan, Pulled the accumulator, solenoid, pulled the TCM plug from the trans body....
Cleaned it a little, inspected it... wasnt sure what was up? Had the o ring... everyrhing was fine...
Stick it back in the trans body, it clicked, and snapped in?!?! Wouldnt pop back out....

**** my life... what a dope... i didnt pop it in all the way when i rebuilt it...

Put everything back together, poured fluid in again,


Hop in my girl, fire it up, jerk it in gear.... nothing, go back to park... grinds gears...... at that point it began to rain... i hung my head and quit for the night... facing defeat

Hop in the shower, im thinking to myself , what did i do wrong??

Then it hit me..... the grinding from reverse to park..... BAM!
the t case was in neutral....
Throw my clothes on.. go outside, throw the case in 4 hi, hop in, turn it on, shift to reverse

.
SHE MOVES!

Got it fast enough to reach 3rd gear.... AND i have a live front axle!
Win win win!!!

An "fyi" i dont have shifter linkage hooked up inside the truck, so i had no idea what gear the t case was in lol

That one had me worried, i thought i did something wrong, i didnt see how because my paranoia had me take the trans BACK apart when it was still on the bench about a month ago....was no issues then, so i slapped it together

Slick work!



A transfer case from a full size truck does bolt right up to your trans, but you have to use the adapter from the full size truck too. The small trucks used a 5 bolt adapter for the smaller t-cases with a 5 bolt pattern.

But that doesn't concern you, lol. You have the ability to make non-matching parts fit together and it looks like it will work perfectly.


Hey so i haz much questionz!

I wanna upgrade to a th350 eventually.
Is there a 27 spline th350 with a 4 bolt output for the t case?

Yep. All of them! If you get a common 2wd version with a 6" tailhousing, you can trim a little off the output shaft and bolt up your current setup but with a Fitsall spacer.

Those ones have a very short output shaft and only work with a 205 or 203. Which is perfectly fine, but your current setup that you just did all that work to wouldn't fit.

Do you know anything about the ford np205?

Could run a th350 with a ford np205 (even if i have to make an adapter)
