    77 K10 LS Swap

This this the e-mail I sent to Speed Engineering. I am working on a 77 Chevy K10 with a 5.3/nv4500/np205. I am interested in your long tube headers 25-1025. Will clear they manual clutch linkage?? Also, if that does not work is it possible to purchase a passenger side header from 25-1021 and...

    77 K10 LS Swap

Just send Speed Eng another email. Wish they had a phone number available

    77 K10 LS Swap

Oh man that looks like fun. I was just looking the Speed ENG site again. Wonder if they would mix a set of headers? For example: Passenger side header from 25-1021 and a drivers side from 25-1039.

    77 K10 LS Swap

A 97 to 2000 Corvette should work. Not sure about the Camaro, have heard they work fine with auto trans and standards with hydraulic clutch. Here are some pics of the stock drivers side 5.3 manifold.

    77 K10 LS Swap

Crispy: Thanks for the link. In that application they are using a 4L80 trans. I am trying to use an NV4500 with manual clutch linkage. The clutch linkage is my clearance problem. The drivers side rear exhaust tube must exit the head an turn straight down for at least 15 inches to clear the...

    77 K10 LS Swap

As far as exhaust goes. I think I will end up using the Schoenfeld long tube header 1302ls1 since I have seen where they worked for others doing the same project. The Speed ENG header 25-1025 looks like it will work but no one can say that it will.

    77 K10 LS Swap

dvdswan: I ended up putting a couple bends in the handle. Also had to relocate the eyelet on the bottom down 1 inch and in towards the trans 1/2 inch.

    77 K10 LS Swap

Crispy, Just looked at the Speed Engineering headers. They look like they will work. I will call them Monday and ask, two sets I looked at 25-1025 and 25-1026 both had a note that said will not fit 4x4. Thanks for the info.

    77 K10 LS Swap

Made some modifications to the trans tunnel today. Also had to make a couple mods to the transfer case shift handle.

    77 K10 LS Swap

After some internet research I think I have found 3 possibilities. Two from Patriot (H8076 and H8014), then one from Schoenfeld (1302LS1). Both Patriot headers are shorties and the Schoenfeld is a long tube header. At this point I think the Schoenfeld is the best option, I did see one post...

    77 K10 LS Swap

This is where I am today, a year into this project. Once it was torn down and cab gutted, it needed floor pans and many patches in the fire wall and a lot of cleaning. All new wiring harness from American Auto Wire, dash and heater/AC boxes refurbished. There have been so many little things...

    77 K10 LS Swap

I am currently in the midst of a 5.3 swap into my 77 K10. The 5.3 is mated to a NV4500 trans and NP205 transfer case using Advance Adapters along with a manual clutch linkage/pedal. Here is the problem, the stock 5.3 drivers side exhaust manifold points directly at the clutch Zbar/linkage...

    77 K10 5.3 NV4500 swap

Thanks for the reply. You have confirmed my suspicions. C1 35 is not needed since I am not going use cruise control. The Clutch start S/W is optional at this point. My donor vehicle was a 2003 suburban, I did get to hear it run and acquired the 5.3 L59 and harness for $700. Did not get the...

    77 K10 5.3 NV4500 swap

The harness rework is going well. I do need to point out, that if you are doing this your self, be patient. Also, be sure to remove all the harness covering and tape. I found a broken pink power wire going to the MAF sensor. I have since verified every line in the harness with my digital meter.

    77 K10 5.3 NV4500 swap

Tried to post a pic to my last message. I must have missed something in the process. Any pointers?

    77 K10 5.3 NV4500 swap

Well, here we go. Have the 5.3 apart for inspection. Everything looks good. Checked one main bearing and one rod bearing. They looked great and even got the thumbs up from my engine guy. So the bottom will be left alone. Will install a new oil pump, timing chain and lifters. As far as the top...

    PCM Help

Thanks for all the info. After further inspection of my engine and a quick one sided budget meeting with my finance department. The full rebuild has been scaled back to rebuilding the heads, installing a new oil pump, timing chain and lifters. So all I will need is to have is a basic flash...

    LS Swap Fuel Lines

I have been researching different types and manufactures of fuel injection fuel line as well as connectors/hose ends. With the LS swap I am doing I need feed and return lines. Of course the Russell stuff is great, but expensive (~$325). The Dorman nylon fuel line and connectors are the cheapest...

    PCM Help

Thanks for the feed back. I have looked at PCMperformance and several others including Black Bear. Yes I agree that a dyno run is going to give the best results, but in the overall scheme of things, this is going to be daily driver and few extra HP is not worth the expense of a dyno run...

    PCM Help

I am about to get started on an LS swap into my 77K10. I have acquired a 5.3 from a 2003 suburban and plan on having it rebuilt with a mild cam. Can anyone suggest reputable programmer who can not only flash the PCM but make the necessary adjustments for a cam change?

    Edelbrock EFI Fuel Sump Kit

Thanks for the insight. I am about to start an LS swap into my 77 K10. I think in the end I will install a 89-91 blazer tank behind the rear axle and do away with the saddle tanks. This should keep the pluming and wiring a bit simpler and cleaner. Even if I used the Edelbrock sump kit, I...

    L59 Z code 5.3

Went to pull the motor this morning, pulled right side valve cover and evidence of water. So needless to say I did not get the motor. Still looking.

    L59 Z code 5.3

I spoke to the guys at LSx4u this morning about the flex fuel L59 option. They said it not an issue.

    L59 Z code 5.3

Found a good deal on a L59 5.3 from a 2003 Suburban with 177K miles. Runs great and does not smoke. Since it is a flex fuel engine, are there any pit falls to look out for when doing a conversion in to my 77 K10?

    Edelbrock EFI Fuel Sump Kit

I am considering an LS swap into my 77 half ton and saw this EFI pump lit on TV the other day. Has anyone tried one of these?
