Well, here we go. Have the 5.3 apart for inspection. Everything looks good. Checked one main bearing and one rod bearing. They looked great and even got the thumbs up from my engine guy. So the bottom will be left alone. Will install a new oil pump, timing chain and lifters. As far as the top end goes, dropping the heads off next weekend to be gone through. Started reworking the harness this last weekend. My oldest son and I are making good progress. Since we are installing a manual trans, we have removed all the auto trans connectors and wires. We are using the instructions from Lt1swap. There are two wires I have question about. C1 pin 35 (CPP Switch Signal M/T) and C2 pin 18 (Clutch Start Switch M/T) I don't think my harness has these, do I need to add them?

Tried to post a pic to my last message. I must have missed something in the process. Any pointers?

The harness rework is going well. I do need to point out, that if you are doing this your self, be patient. Also, be sure to remove all the harness covering and tape. I found a broken pink power wire going to the MAF sensor. I have since verified every line in the harness with my digital meter.

Did you buy the engine/trans as a package and if so how much did it set you back? What vehicle was the donor? C1 pin 35 is for when you press the clutch with cruise control on it will make the cruise control kick off. Clutch Start Switch M/T is for the clutch interlock when starting, leaving it off just means you don't have to press the clutch to start.

Thanks for the reply. You have confirmed my suspicions. C1 35 is not needed since I am not going use cruise control. The Clutch start S/W is optional at this point. My donor vehicle was a 2003 suburban, I did get to hear it run and acquired the 5.3 L59 and harness for $700. Did not get the trans because it was shot and I had no intention in using it on the build. The truck is currently a manual and I want to keep it manual.
