    Intake manifold leak

That for sure isn’t antifreeze. It’s oil. Pretty sure the bolt hole goes through the head and into the lifter valley. Both of mine are leaking and I’m just too lazy to fix. I’d pull the single bolt, clean the threads and put some high temp thread sealant on there and send it. Ben.

    1987 GMC V2500 TBI 350/TH400 Thermostat Help!

All my tbi trucks were 195 thermostats. I would inspect the wiring to the sending unit as well. If the gauge literally goes from normal temp to pinned in one second, for sure it’s an electrical problem. If it slowly creeps up then it’s the stat possibly sticking. Good luck. ben.

    6.2 running poorly

It sounds to me like the turbo was never the issue and didn’t come apart. Therefore no pieces to go into the intake and damage anything Anyone who knows 6.2’s and have started them know that if ANYTHING is wrong with them compression wise, fuel wise, or anything they won’t start. The barely...

    Gauge Cluster Question

Check the contacts where the harness plugs into the printed circuit. They’re delicate and sometimes corroded and that’ll cause a ton of problems. Basically you have to clean each bare spot of copper where the gauges make contact to and the wire harness plugs into as well. Ben

Let's see where you park your square

In my own separate part of the driveway. Away from the kids and their bikes, and not where everyone parks and turns around in. Ben

    28 or 30 Spline Information

Pretty sure 30 spline 10 bolts didn’t come out until 88-89 ish. My 87 Jimmy has 28 spline. My 89 blazer has 30 spline. Both 350tbi motors 700r4 4x4 trucks. Ben

    Swapping to manual hubs

If you are on the fence about it. Wait until you get stuck, put the transfer case into 4by only to find out your “auto” hubs don’t work. Then it’ll be an easy decision. Ben

    removing cluster from 89 burb

Plus you need to get the dash pad up and out of the way. I’ve never been able to get the cluster out without pulling the pad too. You could just take the screws above the glove box and by the passenger door and just prop the pad up too. Ben

    Thoughts Needed Please

I’d turn it without thinking twice. You’re only talking .156” roughly you need to turn which is only .078” of material off the thickness of the bearing seat. Turn it and send it. ben

What the hell did my truck just do?

Could be a vacuum leak. That’ll raise rpms. If it’s big enough, that’s why it won’t restart. Check all vacuum hoses and connections. ben

Weird Seat Brackets Riveted To The Floor

I would not like the idea of a seat frame that riveted to the floor. I’d drill them out and make new ones if needed and bolt them in.

    87 700r4 lock up issues

not trying to argue but absolutely not. With things working properly. Converter lock under WOT should never happen. On pre tbi motors, there’s a vacuum switch that controls lock up. At wot there’s no vacuum, therefore no lock up. On tbi trucks, the ecm sees wot and won’t lock. I’ve got both...

    87 700r4 lock up issues

the converter shouldn’t lock at wide open throttle. I guess I’d have to drive it to see exactly what it’s doing. Does it hit 3rd gear and instantly lock up? No matter what throttle position? And instantly unlock when it shifts into overdrive even if it was locked all the way through 3rd? I know...

    87 700r4 lock up issues

I would lean AWAY from the ecm. If the ecm can lock the converter in 3rd, then you need to find out why it’s being TOLD to unlock in 4th. The fact that it locks up tells you the ecm is good. Ben

Easy to install trans cooler and temp gauge recommendations

yes, there is a 4 pin connector on the drivers side of transmission just about the pan rail. Depending on which set up, there may not be 4 wires in the plug. There is a brake switch, vacuum switch that are also part of the system to lock the converter. Then there are switches inside the...

Easy to install trans cooler and temp gauge recommendations

If you’re cooking your trans doing that type of work, I’d bet money your converter isn’t locking up because of frigged with wiring under the hood. Get the new trans in and make sure the converter is locking up. You could put the biggest trans cooler in there and still burn it up if your...

Best headlights to use, NOT LED

Also those lights have replaceable elements or are the sealed beam style? Just new headlights and my own relay kit made a HUGE difference with my truck. Very happy with them now. I don’t even hardly use my fog lights because I just don’t need them now. Ben

    HVAC issues

The resistor is bypassed in high, so, you’ve probably got a blower motor going out and it is just drawing more amps than it’s supposed to. Check your switch on the back side where the plug is, over time they can get melted and broken from heat over the years, I’ve seen where the plastic plug is...

    Patina truck project

I found using sos pads and then compound with a cheap polisher from harbor freight brought my truck back and let some of its natural patina show through. It was honestly the most relaxing and satisfying cleaning I’ve done to any of my vehicles. I can wait to see your truck finished. Love the...

    NV4500 clunk

I had an nv4500 in my Cummins dodge. Had the same sound but it was from a worn rear end with too much backlash. I just dealt with it but I’d check the rear end too. Sound travels up a driveline like crazy sometimes. Ben.

    Manual windows conversion

Just so you know the crank handle lines up with the power switches. On a suburban that’ll kind of suck on the drivers door because there are 4 switches but in the others, you’ll hardly notice the square hole behind the crank handle.

What have you done to your square lately??

I only run Holley carbs. Got a spread bore on my 82. Kept the factory intake but threw the Quadra-bog in the trash and got a 650 Holley spread bore vacuum secondary carb. Love it! ben

    Coolant tank keeps puking coolant

Same, I just had the same thing happen to my 87 Jimmy. Never ran hot but would pressurize the overflow tank. Cracked head in my case. There’s really no way to build pressure in the cooling system other than that. Sorry dude. Ben
