Swapping to manual hubs

I’m considering Warn hubs for my 84 K20. Question is- is it worth the time and money.
Truck is not a daily driver, but gets good use in summer hauling and picking up parts form my other builds. I only use 4WD if I go off road.
Pro’s - are better fuel mileage as front driveline doesn’t work as hard.
Con’s - manual intervention, installation.
What’s the verdict? Opinions and experiences appreciated.

If you are on the fence about it. Wait until you get stuck, put the transfer case into 4by only to find out your “auto” hubs don’t work. Then it’ll be an easy decision.

Also,auto hubs are the weak link in your 4WD system by far.

I installed warn hubs about two years ago,should have done it years ago. Like others have said the auto/hubs are a weak spot. They are easy to change over ( very clear instructions). I get better fuel mileage and performance. The only downside is you must lock them in and drive a couple of miles every month or so to keep every thing lubed (hub bearings,transfer case and front diff.).

I think the last part of that is always good advice, even for auto hubs.

but how would manual hubs get better mileage than auto hubs?
