I used blazer x members to put the blazer tank in my crew cab

I had to modify the front one a little. basically I cut the ends off moved them up 2'' and welded them back on and braced them

the truck frame steps up over the rear axle where the blazer one is straight that's why I had to modify the x member

worked really well used stock blazer x members straps and tank

OK so that setup looks a lot safer

its basically the same as a blazer the way I done it

I have not dealt with the filler yet but I have an idea to put it behind a hinged tail light. or just put a blazer gas door in the bed side

its the 31 gallon blazer tank

also roofing tar paper works great for a isolating pad between the x members straps and the tank

Looks like you did a real good job. Its too bad there isn't a bullet proof way to do the filler neck with those stock tanks.

I was thinking if you had a new tank modified so the fill neck points in the right direction to run a hose back to the original door ?

ya the picture with it clamped on was the mock up

the picture of the x member is the finished x member

I used a unmodified rear x member and the modified front it is mounted just like a blazer is

I can weld a gas door in the bed side easy enough so it would fill just like a blazer as well

I will either weld the gas door in the bed side or put the filler behind a hinged tail light. those are the only ideas that I like

I would do it if I could get it back to the original fuel door.

So I'm gonna be doing this real soon to my truck any advice? @Old77

Sent from somewhere in Northern Illinois!

No real advice as it's been too long since I'd done this part of the project  Kleedus' install vvv is a good example to work from, though. Very nicely done!

That's a nice install! :waytogo: Very clean.

I think the obstacle is the tank. a custom tank would make this project much easier and would allow for proper use of the original fuel doors

I also don't like how close the tank is to the rear bumper. IMO that's just as dangerous if not more so then the saddle tanks.

lol....there isn't anything unsafe about my setup

You are much more likely to be rear ended then side swiped. If your tank is right behind the rear bumper.......... Well I think the rest is pretty obvious.

Unsafe or not that's where mine is going! I doubt it's that unsafe. Lots of cars have had them there. All the burbs with 31 gallon tanks do. I'm gonna reinforce mine with a piece of C channel in between the frame rails right behind the bumper so hopefully if I ever get rear ended it's like hitting a brick wall!

Ya I agree, in the stock location which is a foot or more away from the bumper, not right up tight to it.
