I did finally find somewhere on the internet that the front track on the 8 lug is about 2.5 inches wider than the 6 lug. So those rims should work because they will have more tie rod clearance. I am probably going to go with 16s because I am trying to do this right but as cheap as possible. The set of 16s I was looking at are about $315 for the set shipped from summit. and the tires I am getting mounted balanced are about $800 which are 315 75 16 (equivalent of 1 35 12.50 16). Also I like more rubber than rim. Too much rim in my opinion just doesnt look very good. But now I know why skysurfer has much more clearance than I do even with his 4.25 inch backspacing.
