We don't really have a minimum, but obviously as you can look around and see, there is alot of things you woudn't want a pre teen to be seeing, but we figure pre teens aren't building trucks yet. 16yo's should have enough sense to handle some of the adult like topic matter. We don't allow, nudity, violence, body dismemberment or things of that nature. Probably no worse than what's on many game console games, but it's enter at your own risk.

And we don't take kindly to these tiny, thumbnail pictures being uploaded to the site. I see a picture on the random photo's bar and I think "Oh that looks neat, I'll click on it"... Then I get aggrivated and want to choke someone! :shitsweak:

Front clip advice

I have always HATED the grille and headlight configuration on the front of my 81 Shortbed. Since I took away the old factory bumper I have decided to replace the grille and I would like to use the quad light setup if possible. But I have no idea how difficult this is or where to begin. I have seen grilles on 1976 era trucks that I like, but I do not think that they will fit my 81 (the front clearance lights on the fenders are vertical). So how to begin this project?

It's not too big of an undertaking. You'll just need a radiator support that has the buckets for the quad headlights.

EDIT: I guess I should add, you'll need the wiring harness for the quad headlights as well. Or you'll have to modify yours. And then of course, you'll need the plastic headlight surrounds.

Thanks for the reply. Is there any year between 73 and 87 that the front clip will not work on my 81?

I don't know the particulars of swapping a 73-80 clip on. I'm sure that would require the entire front clip including the hood. Otherwise, any year from 81-87 will work. And even 88-91 suburbans, blazers, and R/V series 1-tons.

Yep, go 81 and up and avoid 80 on down.

Not on an 81 newer trucks.

Might oughta chill. When the plan goes down to install some biggo mirrors on your truck into the sheet metal, just might find some retrofit hardware to put 80 single square headlights in your truck too.

YES on 81 and newer truck! It's a worthwhile mod because round headlights are the sexiest look of all square bodies :deal:

...and for the record I only count 73-79 in the round headlight era. IMO 80 was the red headed step child of the square body front end :roflbow::roflbow:

Yep, but that's what makes 80 Unique. Only year you could single round or single square headlights. Last year all 4x4's got the NP205 transfer case, there was only 1 other year that all 4x4's had the NP205. And that was the first year of the Squarebody, 1973 !!!

I think my topic needs a reply from me :) . (as quoted from old77) Round headlights FTW!!!!! I have grown to like the look of these, i still think from time to time about converting(the 81-87's have WAY better hood hinges). But i have chosen to keep this front clip on this truck(mabey the next truck will be 81-87). I will quote old77 again, round headlights FTW!!!!!

If you like round, don't count yourself out of 80's though. Most of them were round also. I'd only want a square headlight 80 because it's more rare. There was only 1 package that got the square OEM headlights. Retro would know which it is.
