Yup, my 80 k2500 chassis its getting a ford 44 to mate the gmt400 drivetrain it is getting.

Not only the ease of using GMT400 Drivetrain, doesn't the Ford front axles come in a High Pinion unit? Those are great for big lift kits and better driveline angles. I'd imagine there is not difference in the strenght in a Ford D44 vs a Chevy D44 though huh?

I don't see how a 2-year ford axle is easier to find than a 2-year Chevy t-case. Plus, the ford is older and most of them have been junked by now. That's just my two cents, I don't really go out looking for Ford axles to know what's common.

There are subtle differences, mostly like wheel bearing size and spindle stud size, small things like that where GM and Dodge are a very little bit beefier than F*rd.

I agree, just swap the t-case and run a garden variety Chevy front axle. The '89-'91 Burb/Blazer NP241 will have the output for electric speedo and bolt right to the adapter that's already on the 4L60E.

would this np241 have to run off of it's own PCM, or can i wire it to run with the newer 411 PCM?

It's a manual shifted case, with a factory fitted vss. Your 411 will need the vss signal to function the trans.

so i will need to get the vss from the donor truck, or the truck i get the transfer case from?

just get the one from the truck the transfer case came out of. it will already be in the transfer case anyways.

I believe the NP231C tranfer case would also work for you as it is floor shift and has the vss in it.

S10 and Jeep transfer case? 241 is the truck case he's looking for.
