Instead of changin all the axle stuff around to match the t-case why not just change the t-case to a chevy side drop and then yhou can use easily avaliable chevy axles. I think Hotrod could help me on this but a NP208 i think will bolt to the newer t-case adapters.

I agree, just swap the t-case and run a garden variety Chevy front axle. The '89-'91 Burb/Blazer NP241 will have the output for electric speedo and bolt right to the adapter that's already on the 4L60E.

i wanted to be the first square guy to use a ls motor transmission, and transfer case. but guess it's too much work to do. so i'll snag some dana's from a older chevy and buy an adapter to run the 89+ transfercase on the rear of the 4l60e? i will figure out a way to run the ls motor transmission and transfercase one day, i'll hold myself to it.:baby:

Don't think of it as an "LS transfer case" because it really has nothing to do with being behind an LS motor. It has everything to do with being in a newer body style truck. Not better, just different.

Your current adapter should work, because GM went with the standard "round 6 bolt" pattern back in the 80's. Worst case, the T-case is not clocked right and you have to buy or make a clocking ring. I doubt it though. Chances are good the t-case will sit just right, or up a little higher but that won't matter since you plan on a body lift.

thanks guys! one last question, which chevy transfer case is best, electronics aren't an issue because i can use the dakota digital vss buffer box to get my speedo working.

NP205 is the best of the best. NP241 might be the best choice for what you're doing though.

Just a warning here. I'm about to close this thread down. I'm seeing the dirty 4 letter F word used a bit to often here.

NO, I've never closed a thread here. Been a couple that were not good for the forum, and I deleted the threads, but NO, it's the humor factor is only reason I mentioned it. Some of us don't care for the other brands, some of have the have the other brands, I am one, that still has a F$RD.

Probably alot easier to find the 78/79 f250 dana 44 front than it is to find the ultra rare 90/91 burb and blazer 241. They are out there, but they are not at all easy to find. I'll setup you one for $500 with a slip yoke eliminator and a high angle driveline cv flange rear output.

Winner Winner, chicken dinner!

78 & 79 Fords (only) have the same spring perch width so these leaf sprung axles are a direct bolt in to a Chevy. Add crossover steering and it's so easy a caveman could do it. :grd:
