So can person bore out 348 to make it 409 copycat?
I don't know enough to say about these motors. Even if the wall were thick enough to bore it to 409, would there be enough room in the block to for the bigger counterweights of the 409 crank to get it there? When doing things like this, you better know wth you are doing. for example, I know I can run a Olds 455 crank in a 425 block, but I have to use the 455 pistons and rods cuz compresison height is differant on the pistons, but I also know the early 425, have to have part of the block ground out to make room for the crank. Now if I wanted to run 425 crank it a 455 block, its all good. Back in the day, you could bore some 283's out to a 4.0 bore use a 327 crank then you have a 327 in a 283 block. Just to know which motors you can and can not do that stuff with. So do you have a 348/409 project now too?
