Many people don't even know how to read the date code,or when it's time to say they are old and buy new ones. After the Dot number the last 4 digits will be week and year of production . I use 7 years as expiration date,I've worked at shops that wouldn't touch a tire 10 years or older. We won't balance it,rotate it,patch it replace your Valve stem, nothing. I'm sure it's the liability and possibility that some lawyer will twist it up that it was the shops fault the driver had old tires.Seen that happen a few times. Sidewalls blow, tread separates, not pretty and can cause some damage. It pays to check the date code and the tires physically.
Squareroot, this is a perfect opportunity to use these tires up, patch and smokie burnout. Post the results here for our viewing and listening pleasure. Am I the only guy that does burnouts here?Sumbitch blew out sitting still in the driveway. The day before I drove it home from work at 70 mph. Dry rot is a hidden killer.

Were you around to hear it?
I had one blow out on the work truck last week. The stakebed sides rattled like a sumbitch. Startled the cap out of me, I thought I snagged an overhead cable or something.

That's what I did with the ex.Fill it with slime and send it
Yes, it was the weirdest thing. I heard the hissing so I started looking for the source. As I was looking at it, it literally cracked open and opened up like a big smile in slow motion. It was like watching a crack in the windshield grow. Were you around to hear it?
