So I got the new Vision wheels and BFG tires on last night. For reference, I have a 2" Rancho lift, the factory tires were 265/65/16 on 16 x 7 wheels. The OD diameter measured 31 inches.
The new BFG's are 285/70/17 and measure exactly 33 inches OD. The wheels are Vision Ojos in 17 x 9 with 4.5 backspacing. I learned that they make these tires in different load ratings. Choosing a lower load rating makes them ride smoother at the cost of haul/tow capacity. I rarely haul/tow so I opted for the lower class. It also changes max inflation PSI from 80 to 50. I'm always learning something. I also got a set of Gorilla brand lugnuts. I love the "splined" nuts over the traditional hex style. The included socket doubles as a theft prevention cause if you ain't got it, you ain't getting them off. lol
I really like the look now. It seems more proportional and fills up the wheelwells with plenty of clearance between the Dana 60 brake calipers and fenders. This weekend I'll pull them back off and paint the hubs with matching dark gray paint I mixed up. Next and almost final step is replacing the shocks. I'm looking for quality shocks to finish things off. Not Fox quality but looking into Bilstein. Suggestions on that endeavor are welcome.
And BTW, I'm going to paint the rear bumper the same matching gray, an update over the factory Argent Silver. See how everything ties together?
