I guess this is a good example of why it's ok to ask a question that may be simple? But I guess a bunch of folks in an e-lodge may be no better than Google, lol.

So maybe the real answer is "measure for a driveshaft when you get the dang trans installed, newb"
Agreed.
Answer it the best you can or ignore it and move on.

Which one is right?

Rickos google says 32", buckets diagram shows 26 1/2 plus 6" for total length of 32 1/2"
Maybe google ain't my friend?
Look at the diagram again it is giving 2 lengths, bare transmission case or case with tailshaft extension. Which is why I moved it to the mystery truck section, not knowing if we are working on 2wd or 4wd. And I guess I should read better before I reply, I see you find a 1/2 inch difference I didn't notice. I think I'd go with 32.5 1/2 inch isn't that critical on a drive shaft length. Which is why people can swap 700s and turbo 350s even though they aren't identical

Wouldn't even be that hard, measure your 4l80 when you buy it.

Yep year make and model make a difference. I've assumed what people were working on too many times. 10 posts in is when the O P. Is going to say it's 4wd but that shouldn't make a difference. The things some people don't think matter, matter sometimes. Just went through something similiar with someones brake problem.

'E' lodge. I never thought about it like that. Thanks, I like it.

Yeah, someone here said it a couple weeks ago, I can't remember who. But that's exactly what this place is, lol.

It only makes a difference when you start getting paid to answer the questions imo. I'll put in for your raise....should be on next week's check lol

GOT MY ASS HANDED TO ME AGAIN!!!! By not asking year, make, model, engine, transmission.Info trickling in little bits at a time. It's a 350 not a 305, then by 10th post it's an m code. Jeez I'm done guessing what people are working on.
