And pricey. I run all my 18v stuff on Ryobi 18 v lithium, batteries,why? Because they are designed to work on 18V nicad tools. No worries about over voltage,undervoltage,over discharge etc. And the Ryobi batteries are cheap compared to Milwaukee and dewalt. And it seems once a year ryobi has a special buy 2 batteries and a charger for 99.00 and pick a free tool. I made 2 style adapters I can run virtually any 18V NiCad tool an a Ryobi 18V one plus battery.

Not rattly at all. It's official DeWalt and fits pretty tight. I can't find the original on Amazon. Looks like they've replaced it with one that includes a USB adapter. Costs a little more. Looks there are now a lots of clones for less money, YMMV.

Had been interested in getting a gantry crane since I have been renting my shop, with my upcoming ram rebuild, I decided to finally pull the trigger on one. Went with the 4000lb Strongway from Northern Tool. Definitely not a Vestil or other commercial unit, but for the price I think it will serve my purposes.

The way I started with this adventure I gutted 1 of each of my dead 18v nicads and put cigarette lighter plugs on them, I've got pics of 3 of them 1 was in progress pics.Theres a pic of my 19.6 Craftsman Impact in action powered by a Ryobi Battery , the green socket to fit the Ryobi batteries are like 2 for 15.00 on ebay they use them to use Ryobi batteries in power wheelers and electric scooters. So initial out lay 15 bucks in sockets,a bunch of cigarette lighter cords from misc,junk,I bought 1 Ryobi battery and charger for 25.00 on ebay,the rest was just my time. But I ended up being able to power 7 different brands with 1 battery yes they were like corded tools but I could take the plug in any where. Now,you'll wonder why I made a corded Ryobi battery, Because I didn't start by using Ryobi batteries initially,but they were the winner after four different attempts,based on cost,safety,and battery management. Eventually I started sinking the green sockets into gutted batteries on my most popular stuff. 1 more fun fact, you can use the Ryobi batteries and socket to power a 12v tire inflater( they work better on 18v). So I'm powering 8 different devices with 1 battery platform. I bought a lot of 10 dead new Ryobi batteries on ebay for 50.00,and brought them back from the dead. Not the way everyone shows on you tube,that doesn't work on the dead,dead Li Ions . Also put a cigarette lighter cord on my snap on 9.6v impact and a Bosch 9.6 drill so I can use them under hood, off a jumper box or anywhere there's a 12v automotive cigarette lighter. When I looked at the Dewault adapter I was going to have I think $200.00 in 2 batteries 1 charger and the adapter,so I went my own way.

Could only put up 3 pics, here's a pic if my dewalt drill with a socket sunk in a gutted battery, it's about an inch thicker but I don't mind,and as I said before once yearly Ryobi and home depot come out with a special byv2 batteries and a charger,pick a free tool,my Ryobi collection is growing. I'm running Dewalt,and Craftsman ,this way usually everything else I just run as corded,cordless tools.

@Camar068 , just search "DeWalt 18v to 20v adapter", a bunch will come up.

I'm standardized on DeWalt because my employer was (I'm retired now)...and their shop is about a mile from my house. Plenty of batteries and tools to borrow if need be.

I was wondering how you were planning on tackling that job.

Yeah I think I could do it with my cherry picker/wood c channel beam I use for lifting the 79’s cab, but the straight pull of the gantry should be more betters.

The good thing about the extended cab on the dodge, is the balancing point is better than a single cab is. On my 79 I have to lift in the door jamb as far forward as possible, still is not quite balanced.

I think the gantry will have many uses as time goes on, as my hobbies are not getting any lighter. Now I just need a forklift and 4 post lift.

What is your honest opion of thr tire changer? I've seen a few YouTube videos on upgrades for 70-80 bucks more. I don't need to change 37s, but I need to break down some tires so I can sandblast the Ralley wheels. Let me know.

The tire bead breaker worked well for the trailer tires, super easy. It’s constructed well and mounted on the stump solidly with 6” x 1/2” screws. What I didn’t like was the tire iron doesn’t mount to the top piece, you leverage it around the top pole in a circular motion which I felt was awkward. One can spin on the first tire lip easily without the iron, the second lip is more challenging. If I was planning to do larger tires, I’d spend the extra $$ for a tire iron that attaches to the pole.

I've had one for decades, as is,it's junk, if you can weld you can make a better one. I've upgraded all kinds of stuff on mine,just to make it functional. The bead breaker doesn't work 90 percent of the time so I had to adapt a bead breaker from a different manufacturer. The mounting bar. Ha, forget it, it dismounts fine but you will be prying your new tires on with tire irons while the upright is in your way.. Mine is very functional now but it is no where near what it was when I got it. Now I can break a bead everytime,dismount a tire and remount any tire without having to pry them on. I'll try to find pics and put up comments so this will be edited a bunch. Keep checking back. Okay could only attach 5 pics,I made probably 6 different mounting bars none worked great. The bike carrier,turned into duck head works best. The bead breaker is a Speedway wide foot bead breaker,with back bar removed and a piece of chain and strap to replace the back bar. The round wheel looking pic with the hook is a pic of the head of an old Milton tireman tire bar,I bought, it works decent,duckbill on a stick,way better than the harbor freight bar. The bulldog tire lever,absolute junk,140.00 dollar junk. So the only part of the harbor freight tool I use is the upright. I've drilled holes in the round plate to bolt my wheels down. So if I were to start all over, I'd take a piece of scrap pipe weld a plate on bottom to bolt it down and a plate in the middle to bolt wheels to. Then I make a duck head mount and buy a speedway bead breaker. P.S. it was on that wood when the previous owner threw it away,because it was junk.

Thanks guys for the comments. I don't do much with tires. I have a great tire shop right by my house. They do a great job, and always cut me a deal. I just thought it might pay for it self, just for breaking down tires. Might not waste the money, and just take them to the tire shop.
