I finally decided I would try a few more things before handing the truck off to the garage, and I would have to tow it in anyway. Picked up new: IAC valve, O2 sensor, and ignition coil. Just to see if anything would happen differently I put the IAC valve in. (Keep in mind I just recently replaced the TPS.) Started the truck and it was idling high and I was kind of expecting that. I let it warm up a few minutes then mashed the gas a few times and there is no stuttering in park which is an improvement. So it seems to be getting good balance of air and gas/ not bogging. Now I guess I need to do the paper clip tune up trick. If I can dial in a good idle I will definitely be replacing the Ignition coil l, unless the current one is looking great ( haven't checked yet), and the O2 sensor. I realized I forgot to look for an ignition module while at the parts place. Oh, I found the IACV, O2 sensor, and ignition coil all in one spot, the Advance around the corner from my house.
Let me know what y'all think. Feedback.

I know on my Vortec OBS trucks with 5.7s, the TPS and IACV often go out in sequence. Now my trucks, unlike the TBI trucks, don't need a relearn procedure for these sensors. But both of them ran better after they were replaced; in both cases, replacing the original factory installed pieces.

Keep at it man eventually you will find something awhile back I had a random sputtering and it was a combination of things one I had the original cap and rotor the rotor exploded and I didn't get all the bits out of the dizzy and there was a chunk of metal from the old rotor bouncing around in there ontop of that I decided to replace the coil and the new coil had longer wires and I pinched them when I put the cover back on lol

Doing a little research. I need to get my hands on an auto meter for setting base idle. Then I will need to adjust the timing in the TPS. A few things I read about not trying to adjust the torque screw for timing, people having bad experiences trying to adjust the idle screw themselves. I really want to do this right the first time.

Got the bluetooth amp wired in and it sounds better than what I had in there so I'm happy with it. Without the AC ductwork in the way I had plenty of room to mount it behind the dash cover with 3m tape.

Just a shot in the dark but check to see what the coolant temp sensor is reading if you can get a scanner.
May be reading low and trying to run the idle high and at a richer mixture to get the engine up to temp.

Not much happening today. Just picked the kid from school in the truck, drop off at Tae Kwon Do, then a fresh tank of ethanol free on the way to the water for the sunset. Too many cars for a picture in front of the water, but a nice chilly (and dry!) evening for a cruise.

Should I be adjusting the torque screw in the throttle body and adjusting the TPS for timing or should I disconnect the timing set bypass and start at 0? Although I have not done anything with the distributor. No messing with the pickup coil or dizzy yet.
