Yes, still messing around with little details on the engine!

After several online purchases of what I consider examples of what a waste of money is, I decided to make my own alternator tensioner for the Gilmer Drive on my Small Block Chevy.
The lower portion is a spherical-end for the clutch linkage on a Class 8 Heavy Truck; the threaded (adjustable) part started as a stainless 3/8" NF 6" long bolt; the larger, part for adjusting was a stainless hydraulic fitting which I cut down and bored before TiG-ing on the bolt; the tube started off as a 6" long 3/8" stainless pipe nipple; and the jam nut is also stainless.

Total cost: about $27 CAD.

The pics are of the test-fit stage. It will be removed and polished, of course.

I have used MSD wires for a very long time.
Those should work great for ya.

Even my tiny little VW has them as well, but it also has the matching distributor and CD box on it as well...

Flywheel cover came today. Anyone know what size bolts hold it on? I'm thinking 7/16-20? 700r4 but don't think that makes a difference.

i have yet to have a pleasant expierence with these things. bought an aftermarket for my SM465, didn't fit right. Bought an LMC for a T400, didn't fit right, had to fab. Got another one that will fit NV4500 and SM465, wasn't even close. i suspect they aren't interchangeable as advertised, i should've known that. What was your source? How did it go?

I talked to my mechanic at the shop and he gave me some get ready license plate screws. Said that's what it called for. Haven't tried them yet as the weather hasn't allowed me to. Gets dark too soon so I'll see this wweekend if they work. Idk. Seen people say 8.8 mm to 1/4-20 on other forums. So we'll see. He said let him know if they don't work. Lol

@Catbox I'm planning to put in a msd dizzy too but had to wait a bit as they're proud of them at 550 bucks. Wires were 146 bucks.

Yuh.
They are not inexpensive at all.
For my 4 wires and 1 coil wire it can suck too.

Back when I bought my distributor they were ooooonly $279.
And the only one making them like this, now you can pick up a knockoff for much less.

To keep it relevant to this forum, while at the junkyard Max found a truck that had some cool aftermarket parts on it. Like this MSD HEI module that we have been running on the big block for the last couple of years now.

We also keep an eye out for partial sets of wires while we peruse the swap meets.
For $15 a couple years ago, I picked up two bundles of partial sets that were put together to make a complete set that is on the truck as well. We ohm'd them out , then checked the jacketing and all were just fine to be put back into service.
You can see them under the intake...

Cleaned the rotting leaves from the box, changed out the rear bumper with a chrome shiny one, bought parts to rebuild the distributor advance and new plates and registration.

Dropped in a4l80E. What is the easiest way to still use the stock column shift and safety neutral switch. Any ideas?
I was planning on just correcting the throw of the arm.

Trying to fix my headlights from going on and off. Also hooking up the high beam kit that will turn on all 4 lights on high. Anyway the question is which are high beam? The outer lights or inner? Why is there 2 wires going to one terminal on the light? Po put this grill on here it's an 89 burb with side by side lights. So his wiring skills lack some and I'm finding more problems. So I went to hf and got bunch of heat shrink tubes and all the stuff to clean this up and hopefully that'll fix it. these pics are of the drivers side with 2 wires going to one terminal.

The passenger side has one wire to each terminal on the lights. And need new blinker light socket.
