The more I dig in the more it gets worse. This guy's a peach at wiring. That's probably my weakness is wiring but I'd never do this crappy of a job. Got the passenger side headlights wires cleaned up. The sun was going down and getting cold so I'm done for now but at least I wasn't a lazy turn today and got some $hit done. Now it's beer thirty.

Inner lights are high beam.

Keep in mind that on quad systems there is a separate high-beam lamp, but the low-beam lamp also has a high-beam mode, so all four lamps should be on when in high-beam. There will be three terminals on the low-beam lamp, a common ground and one each for the high and low positives. The high-beam lamp will only have two terminals.

My right front caliper is locked up. My local O'Reilly's ordered a set from another store but even though I have boxes marked with the correct part numbers, I have two left side calipers. I took them back, asked for a RIGHT side to go with the left one. I was nice because it wasn't the fault of the guy I was dealing with.

I am irritated because I wanted to use my '87 this weekend. Normally the other store can get the part here by 8:00 am. But tomorrow...there are Mardi Gras parades in Baton Rouge and traffic is going to be shut down.

Well with a car jack, an old cabinet door and a worn tie strap, i was able to wrestle my SM465/NP205 out of the Jimmy. They're completely caked with crud and are a total eye sore. Some gaskets are failed, cross member bolts are completely mismatched, etc. Needs lightly gone through, heavily cleaned and painted. Plus it gives me more room for frame and cab floor treatment. Until then, i have ALOT of stuff to chip off of this pair. Slowly but surely.

wire wheel on a dewalt 1/4 impact driver!

that's also the technique i've been using. but to get to that point entirely, i swear there's cemented all over the pair. literally have to chisel it off

Cleaned up all the headlights wires with heat shrink solder connectors and t-tapped 3 of them. Also replaced the running light socket up front on passenger side. Why I hate doing wiring repairs is it takes a while to do it right. Tedious and slow but I'm glad I spent the time to do it right. Now I don't have to go back and fix it later. Now I just need to wire in the 4 bright light high beam kit as everything works after the repair job. Lol

@82sbshortbed we hear you. E’s truck was a wiring nightmare but slowly over time we have corrected most of it. Got the American Autowire headlight relay kit and hope to install that in next week or two. With instrument cluster back in and Vintage Air installed I can say we only have a few electrical head scratchers to go interior wise so we have come a long way. Matter of fact headlights are wired up wrong, when drivers side headlight is on high beam, yup, you guessed it low beam on passengers side! Can’t make this stuff up ! And it passed state inspection…
