Dear Abby,
Finally! Took my new tires (loaded in the truck) to my mechanic to get them installed today. I was going to have him take care of the zerks, oil change; etc. at the same time.
Imagine my surprise when I got there that he came out with a large cup in one hand and a red gun in the other.
When I stopped he tossed the contents of the cup on the LF wheel and then used the red gun to sense the temp of the wheel. That's when I noticed the smoke.
Well, the trip had been mostly uneventful until I went to turn into his shops' driveway. Brake pedal went clear to the floor.
Yep. Caliper froze up.
Now I gotta get new front calipers, hoses, rotors AND pull the axles and replace the bearings and seals.
I could express a LOT of colorful adjectives and metaphors here but worse things could have happened and I'd only get my blood pressure up . . . again.
I know I could get away with getting the one side done but WTHeck?
Puddle Jumper will be back on the road again soon and I'll be happier! Not so much for my wife. She still wants me to sell it. I can get another wife, but not another 1973 GMC Jimmy Sierra.
Why doesn't she understand that?
Signed,
