Did a quick repaint of the grill and headlight bezels just to spice it up a bit.
Only did the silver, to make everything match, didnt do the black.
@Powerhouse Ranch recognize the headlight bezels? Those are the ones you sent me. Was orgilally going to use them on my 85, but the ones on this truck were all broken from the last hailstorm, so I decided to use them on this.

Those headlight bezels are about $17 through LMC. I installed a set on my '87 because the originals were so badly beat up. Actually ordered a replacement grill through LMC at the same time but had to order all new plastic grommets and got new screws as well.

Wow, really? That's surprising. That seems cheap. Well I got these for free plus 12$ shipping thanks to Mr Luke, and they're in great condition, so no worries. But I'll keep that in mind. How much was a new grill? The mounting tabs on mine are a bit busted, wouldn't mind having a new one.

atta boy Ayden. This rig has come a hell of a long way. These are accomplishments pretty dream of doing/take years to do. Keep up the great work man! (Excellent bezels!!!)

Wow, really? That's surprising. That seems cheap. Well I got these for free plus 12$ shipping thanks to Mr Luke, and they're in great condition, so no worries. But I'll keep that in mind. How much was a new grill? The mounting tabs on mine are a bit busted, wouldn't mind having a new one.
Ayden, according to LMC a new grille (You have to put that E at the end of grill) for a 1985-87 GMC is $89.95. Part #38-3859 It will NOT include the GMC emblem (mine is 3 separate letters).

The headlight bezels give you 3 options:
Standard for $10.95 each.
Premium for $17.95 each.
All Chrome for $69.95 for the pair.

I was going to just paint mine but they were beat up pretty badly. Yours look great in the pic though.

Was doing some basic maintenance on the '79 crew cab. Basic stuff like greasing everything, checking u-bolt torque, etc and I was going to rotate the tires too. The fronts are rotted and worn poorly, figured I'd rotate them to the inside rears. To make life easier, removed the front wheels and installed my hummer wheels and tires that I had as spares, so I could just have one end of the truck jacked up at a time.

Well dang, I think I like it, lol. The wider fronts give it a beefy look that I dig. I may just leave it like that for a while. I'll remove the rear simulators and paint the rims to match the front. Or I'll paint the fronts to mach the rear. Not sure yet.

I was running the EFI bug catcher when, for whatever reason, I took it off I was amazed at the amount of oily film that made it into the intake. I used a simple water separator for an air compressor. Took the guts out or the top & sealed the bottom petcock. Put in between the PCV & bottom of throttle body. Painted it black to blend in with the firewall. Does a great job of catching all the nasty stuff that used to go in. Now it’s hooked to the bottom of the carb plate. I just unscrew it to dump. Eventually I plan to run braided line but I’m frugal with some things...ie, cheap.

So you only tapped the catch can off of one side? Thats what is bugging me....if there is a way to plumb it off of both sides. I made mine a few years ago - is (iirc) 1-1/2 to 2 qts. Has a ball valve in the bottom, copper chore boys as a filter and is sized to fit in a charcoal canister bracket.

Yeah, one side has the hose from PCV going in. Since it comes in from the sides, heavy deposits of oil that's sucked in drop to the bottom. Fumes pass thru the other side into the intake to be burned off. Simple yet effective. I empty out as needed.

You only have one PCV valve and that vents the whole engine. The other valve cover needs a breather to let air in. I like your catch can, nicely done!

The only "V" engine that I know of that had two PCV valves was the V6 GMC in the 1960's. One screwed into each head under the valve covers. They were plumbed to the intake runners on each head. The breather was the oil fill cap. The oil fill went right to the engine valley.

Invested a solid 4-5 hours in 100 eg weather getting the door handles back on the truck....So simple yet so difficult apparently, lol.
And couldn't put the door locks back in as one of them decided to not work any more. IDK how a working door lock got jammed up sitting in a box for a year?

Won't some penetrating oil loosen it up? You would be surprised what can develop surface rust and how little it takes to gum up the works.

Or $16 for a pair of argent dual headlight bezels. I put more time into sanding and repainting mine than it was worth, should have just bought new...
