Well after the winters work and the truck is outside, time to start on the interior. Anyone used any of the plastic paints with any luck?? Just got done spraying my door panels, guess we will see if its durable or not.
Search the forums for KRYLON FUSION . I wanna say it was bucket that posted it but not positive. I haven't installed mine yet, but I take his word on his results.

I used VHT with an adhesion promotor, Hope it works out!! Might have to break down and just buy some new panels, Can't find any used ones around here. I broke the cllip that the window felt attaches to so thats my luck! Its's the one running along the top of the door panel

Some of you fine folks know that I just went though some oil control issues, which turned out to be my intake manifold gasket sucking oil in from the valley and followed that with getting my EGR valve working and getting my vacuum advance functioning. ( @Goldie Driver you might be interested in reading the end of the story) Two options for plugs on the 305, R45TS & CR43TS, the latter became recommended for ping reduction. Truck had 43's in it when I bought, eventually I switched to the NGK equivalent, then upped the heat range during the oil control issues which is the NGK UR4. I just went back to the colder plug, the NGK UR5. I've put a couple hundred miles on the plugs and even more since the intake job. Oil consumption is not a measurable amount on the dipstick (I still get a puff of blue at start up so there is a little valve stem seal leakage) the plugs look great now. I towed the big trailer 200 miles on Saturday without a hicup, an pinging or anything like that.

This is what #7 looks like now, this was the one fouling out in a hundred miles. This plug has around 400 miles on it.

My pictures were kind enough to blur, but you can still see the color on the plug. Technically maybe a little to much grey, (a little cold), but dropping the heat range has completely eliminated high RPM pinging on regular gas. I use to just feed her premium when I knew I was going to pull the trailer, but that's just not possible with gas price right now. She idled nice and smooth even while being put though a day of putting the trailer around.

can it be repaired/built with jb weld or other 2 part epoxies? We've had awesome luck with Plast-i-pair at work on medical equipment. It will never break in the same spot I promise as long as it's got something to bite to.

Got new wire harness for switches installed, new window & wing window felts/seals, new power motor installed, and lubed the regulator in the drivers door today! Also got the new chinese lock actuator working after I discovered that one of the terminals pushed inside the actuator when I plugged it in. I was a bit confused on why my power lock STILL didn't work after installing a new actuator! A bit of a PITA, but glad to have everything working right and not Oakie Rigged! Now, I just have to finish restoring my door panel, and doing new felt/seals on the passenger side!

I recently purchased a Hurst Indy universal shifter to replace the completely fried column shifter on the basket case. I have installed all of the brackets and the adaptors that go on the transmission forks. Now all I have to is mount the shifter to the brackets, drill a hole in the floor and install the linkage and the floor shifter is done and I can finally drive the vehicle (kind of)

A friend asked if I could put the parts back onto the engine, 454, his meth enduced BIL started removing parts from the front of the engine, AC compressor is seized and one of the air pumps is mighty rough. Going to eliminate the air pumps, or at least attempt to if I can find belts to make the PS, coolant pump and alternator to work.
With the belts removed, a jumper battery and the big charger, along with some ether, made sure the engine would still run. It fired right off and runs real nice with no noises of any kind. Idled smooth too with a short burst of ether on ocassion.
Absolutely no rust any where. Rear fenders are straight with none of the usual bashed in portions, and, that rear bumper is a masterpiece in steel, pipe and welding.
The owner said He would take $2500.00 for it as it sets so if anyone is interested in buying it before I get parts and labor involved, send me a PM.
Oh yeah, the interior is decent. Not perfect but okay. Maybe some pics of that later.

I would love to own this truck. I believe though that I would have to convert it to a Duramax or a 12 valve cummins just to step up the fuel mileage some.

I hooked the ashtray spring back up so it stops grinding in between the housing and the tray, and tightened up the glove box hinge so it closes and lines up with the latch correctly.

Small things, but makes it nicer inside.
My daughter put the ashtray back in and every time we get in she points to it and says, “I did that”.

How does the Chinese actuator work? Mine needs to be replaced and the OE seems like its gonna blow a hole thru the bottom of the door. I want to keep that type of power.

Keep checking FB marketplace for panels close to you. It’s worth it!! I couldn’t do anything with the mess the previous owner did to the panels. Used panels, a little cleaning and dye, and kept what i could from originals. New carpet was a must. Good luck!

So far so good. It's very firm like the factory one's. Be aware of the fragile plug terminals though!
