What fluid and capacity in 85 Chevy k10 manual 4-speed ?

I’ll try to get some better pics of transmission. I can’t argue they are pretty bad pics.
The shift knob pic tells us all we need to know. That is the SM465. It takes 80W-90W Gear Oil. You can google "SM465 Fluid Type" and "SM465 Capacity" if you like.

I did throw in a quart of expensive synthetic when I did mine...just because.

SM465 stands for "Syncro-mesh". It takes Syncro-mesh gear oil. I think Pennzoil makes some. You have to be careful about putting modern stuff in there, it will eat up the brass syncros.

I just replaced the shift forks and put a kitin the top cover and I put exactly 4 quarts in mine, make sure it’s the 80-90wt GL-4 from what I’ve read and heard that the GL-4 is better because of the brass synchronizers in the internal parts, just my 2 cents worth

Debatable. I always was told "sm" stands for "Saginaw Muncie". Some even say "saginaw michigan".

As far as lube, all I've heard is gl4 80-90w.
