My father had his own delivery business for about 16 years,,,,he had a 1974 C65 chevy bobtail truck with a 366 in it. Ran that truck bout 16 hours a day 6 days a week. Truck had quite a few miles on it. Pretty good reliable engine for a gas engine,,,,,

In a big heavy truck, it really doesn't drink much more fuel compared to an underpowered 350.

Nope, actually seen a big block swapped from a small block pick up Fuel economy.

Cus the motor doesn't have to work near as hard. This does normally on happen on heavier trucks or towing as mentioned though. I don't think my 84 C20 gets better mpg than the 85 K1500, but I know the 84 C20 gets much better when towing than the K1500. And the K1500 has 3.73's and the C20 has 3.21's.

454. I'm just a fan of how much torque it can produce. I like an engine that isn't built to the nuts and is more for reliability. I love diesels but I just don't like paying for their repair or rebuild bills.

i have all from a 396 to 454

the 396 was in my 4x4 jimmy for awhile but i pulled it andput it in a 71 camaro.
i liked it better in the camaro.

i have a 500 horse 454 in my jimmy now alot more torque i like it better in the jimmy.

i have a bone stock 402 was in a 71 3/4 ton its just a factory .30 over 396

i have a 427 that i had in a camaro it ran pretty good.

the smaller big blocks work great in cars
and bigger ones in trucks

its hard to pick a favorite cause they all have different uses

but i would say 454 bigger is better
