I have used a 20v Dewalt cordless drill to check the function of the Gear Vender on my car. It’s designed to automatically engage at around 45mph, the drill makes it easy to check. Right at 45 mph you can hear the solenoid click.

Anyway, my drill will easily put the speedometer needle at 115. I’m guessing your speedo is fine.

If it's still reading, it's probably fine. Just don't push your luck.
