Those three pictures also illustrated the variables in Rallye wheel trim rings! Seems like the 83-84 had a recessed edge on the ring, most visible in the center picture, and the 85-up has a tapered edge that's an extension of the taper in the ring....
Pretty sure the ones Dad used on the factory "wagon wheels" steel spoke wheels on the '78 Sierra shop truck, had a vertical edge, with a gently rounded corner leading to the horizontal inside the ring. This closely fitted to the inner part of the wheel rim, nearest the wheel center.
Looked really cool on a yellow truck with yellow wheels, bumpers, and mirrors; only chrome on it besides the bar grille and tailpipe tips. The grille was a Stull aluminum bar style, and it had black vertical bars that the brushed finish aluminum bars bolted to. These bars were not square, but a box with a point to the outer facing side. Think about the shape of the house on Monopoly.....
Stull also made a "custom" build it yourself grille with those bars; we sold one to a customer who made it fit on a '71 Mustang (actually looked great!).
