Its the column.

I cut it down to fit, came from a 75 Cadillac Coupe Deville ..
Worked fine with the TH400 ..
But now there's a new ballgame in town ..

Could cut a deeper gate, but that means taking the column out and apart .. !! (Been there done that)

Think I'll just drop it in D for do it and let auto do his thing ..
Although it would be nice to override auto when the need is there ..

Maybe that's "O" for OK ...

BTY ...
The Hurst floor shifter is only for the T-case ..

Well Fellows ...
After sleeping on it overnight I came up with two ideas on how to make the Caddy column work with having all gears selectable ...

1) ... Shorten the lever crossover arm which in turn would allow for more throw ..

2) ... Cut the slot deeper in the column housing which acts as the stop ..

I'm inclined to do the column mod cause if I shorten the lever on the crossover arm would increase the resistance to work ..
It takes a little grunt to take it out of Park as it is now ..

The mark that can be seen is the stop ..

Doing the mod will require me to take off the fender & inner fender, they need to come off anyway cause of a frame mod that going to be done in the near future ...

These are for repairing crack frames around the steering box.
My frame is not cracked, but thought it would be a good idea to add some beef since that's a known problem area ..

I got lucky the guy I bought my 208 from just had the brace laying there with it.. there was no mention of it in his ad.
It’s 36 1/2” works good with the TH400 and an aftermarket adapter.
Fabbing one certainly wouldn’t be difficult, mild steel would be adequate.

All this talk of the transmission brace and made me remember when I was painting my frame I noticed my front bolt had snapped off. Now my body is sitting back on the frame and isn't gonna be a easy fix now.

Might go that route .. ??
Going to slot the column first and see if that will net enough throw ..

If I do change the length of the arm, I'm thinking it could mess with the Oem switches on the column .. ??

Hope to get around to working on the slot today ..
