They're not strictly required though if you run across one, you can put it on...They're sold by Transtar for a few dollars apiece, I believe.
Awesome. I went with a kit from transparts warehouse with all the seals, steels, frictions, bearings etc. and plan on referring to the manual you mentioned for installation. I wound up breaking one of the little detents off the rear planet bearing, that seal from the forward clutch piston was bad and obviously the forward clutches. I cleaned every other part up and inspected them thoroughly. After seeing how it’s assembled, I’m not too worried about that gouge in the forward drum unless you think it should be replaced. Do you think the damage to that piston seal was really what caused my forward clutches to be turned into steels and me to loose 5qts of fluid? I’ve never seen a leak under this truck and my coolant looks good so I’m still questioning where that went. But if you say this rebuild kit should get my stepdad back on the road, I’ll take it slow, make sure I do it all right, and rest easy. At this point, i know im rebuilding it. I just want a tiny bit of peace of mind thinking the previous problem has been addressed. As always, thank you for any and all help. Hats off to you sir! (Nicktransmissions)
