Need help to locate a capicator/filter for a factory tack out of a 79 Blazer.
Does any one know the part number I could use? The harness I got with the tack did not have one, but the wiring diagram shows one in the system. Is it neccessary to have the filter in the system? Will it work without the filter? If hook up tack without the filter/capicator will it damage the tack or ign system? Can I buy a regular radio condensor like one used in a point ign system?

Thanks agin in advance.

I am running a Sunpro tach with no filter. So you can run a tach without a filter, yes. I am hoping to get an original tach in my truck at some point, and I do plan on putting a filter on it. I was going to just get a filter from a different application around the same year, like a A- or G-body, and just run it on my truck. I chose an A- or G-body because I didn't want to pay a "Corvette tax", if you know what I mean.

I can't say I have seen a tach filter for our trucks specifically.

It bleeds off unwanted electrical noise like high voltage spikes. Aftermarket tachs typically have the filter built into the tach itself GM chose not to.

Condenser is another name for capacitor. Its not a filter.
